That's true of most reboots to be honest. If you pretend the original didn't exist, they're usually perfectly decent / watchable films... but if you compare them to the original they don't measure up so why bother? I mean, for example, the "Robocop" remake is a perfectly decent PG-13 action movie... but it isn't Robocop, is it.

Point Break was the worst remake I think, It lost everything that actually made the original one good, which were likeable characters and character relationships and they replaced it with stunts and a confusing storyline
