Thier tactics ain't working anyway...I had 8 jobs in london today...
One was in Buckingham gate, the other over chelsea bridge a couple near barbican...we drifted past it twice and the police have them well kettle in and it only put about half an hour onto our day..I even enjoyed a salt beef bagel in barbican for my lunch..working 9-5. |

As far as I know they want net-zero carbon emissions by 2025. I think that would damage economies and living standards a lot.
The UN's IPCC about climate change has said that a move to net-zero for any timescale requires carbon capture technology that doesn't yet exist, so the next ten years is unrealistic. One of the Extinction Rebellion people was on the Andrew Neil show, and didn't have many answers to the accusations of alarmism. https://youtu.be/938L6whQZFQ?t=1842 Go to about 30 minutes. |

Yes James that's why we are doing this by 2050. The Extinction Rebellion are Marxists they are not of a sound mind Last edited by arista; 10-10-2019 at 05:49 AM. |

Thanks James, very interesting interview, so cooking and heating with gas to be eliminated in the next 6 years and aviation to stop altogether, such achievable targets

I find them really hypocritical, one was asked yesterday if she had a TV at home ,she couldn't answer , IF they are so concerned about it ,do what most of us do that care about it ,recycle all you can, dont drop litter,if you see litter pick it up and bin it,dont buy plastic if you can help it,try cycling sometimes ,and just do your bit, every little helps, these people are not helping at all, they are just wanting their 15 mins of fame and the amount of police needed is putting lives at risk, just because people cannot behave themselves, pathetic.

You were cheering Boris on when he said he would defy the Benn act, which is illegal. You're selectively tough on certain law breakers, but don't pretend you're tough on all.

Just heard some guy interviewed, he has flown in from Australia to take part in the protest, apparently he has come to learn...
a. do they not have protests closer to his home b. has he ever heard of learning remotely....

I'm all for peaceful protests but these people are distracting everyday life. I am someone that is very critical of the police for many reasons (which i will not go into but i have been seeing huge levels of corruption), but i can fault them for this event. I can fault them for many other things though.

The prime minister’s father has told a crowd at Extinction Rebellion’s London demonstrations he backs their methods and is proud to call himself an “uncooperative crusty”.
Stanley Johnson was responding to a question about comments made by his son, who called environmental protesters occupying sites across Westminster “uncooperative crusties” in “heaving hemp bivouacs”. Speaking on a panel from a stage set up by protesters in Trafalgar Square, Johnson said: “On the point of non-cooperative crusties, I wear that badge with pride. “It’s one of the nicest things that has been said about me for a long time. A non-cooperative crusty, absolutely superb – do they taste good? That’s my thought, I think they do.” The Guardian Good man, Stanley |

If they were a large group of football supporters, they would be marched out of town. The Police are capable, but are likely getting their orders from higher up.

Did you see the video of the copper punching that football supporter in the crowd when they were saying "get back"... now, would they ever even dare do that to these climate protesters? NO! The coppers are trying to justify the punch saying "no arrests were made so it's all good", still assault though. I am not saying that these protesters need to be punched, quite the contrary, I am saying that NO ONE should be, including that supporter in the crowd at the football match. |

While ordinary people are fighting to try and save the world for future generations, there are millionaires taking their private jets to meet up and swap pairs of trainers, what will it take for the elite to step in line as well? Normal people can’t fight it alone.

The issue and so the protest is here to stay for good.
Warming and mass extinction are only two of many issues but there will be more. And there will be a whole range of types of activism, from education through direct action all the way to eco terrorism Make no mistake, it has barely started. It will grow for the rest of our lives.
