I say well done, most town centres are just carbon copies of each other now with mc Ds, greggs, boots, KFC, the independents and small businesses are forced out.

It's not surprising they don't want it - destroying lovely green space, for a company that's contributing to the destruction of rainforest?
Keep it. |

'The fact their application includes a drive-through suggests they are looking not just to target the people of Rutland but also tourists to Rutland Water.'
They aim to take the tourist business from the independents established there, this is them saying it :/

That's a bit of a simplistic view. The presence of big chains is pretty vital to the survival and success of a lot of towns

That is not the reason here is it? The specific and stated reason is to take the tourist trade. Therefore the townsfolk who already work there and the business owners are not going to be very open to this. What of their jobs?...it's small minded not to consider the impact this could have in the community.

What it should be about is choice. The more choice people have for places to eat the better. It's also worth noting that when any chain like this enters a new town and it's up for debate, that the chain usually invest a lot upgrading the local area by helping with infrastructure etc
