My Media Studies teacher told me last week that CD Singles have stopped counting towards chart placings and that it is now done on downloads alone. Is this true? And if so then why are singles still being made and sold in shops.. and advertised?

They would have to still count! Fans always buy singles.

The hit40uk chart counts from Downloads alone.
But the Official Chart still counts from singles. |

They have to, otherwise it would just be the Download Chart- http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/downloads.shtml
