Back to abstract arguments?
That was directed towards LT, in response to his assumption that because Matt Damon knew nothing about Palin he was in no position to comment on her politics. |

Although I believe famous actors have as much right to an opinion as anyone else - I do think that their celebrity status can unfairly influence some people. There are many people these days that seem to see celebrities as some sort of god and think they know everything about everything - which is clearly not he case. I think some polititians are not adverse to using this to their advantage and is just something people need to be aware of.

Same can be said of politicians too, I think.
''Oh, lookey, his in a suit, he must know''. Dangerous to think the government always has your best interests at heart. |

I wouldn't trust any polititian further than I could sling them - from whatever party! I think that even the few that go into politics with genuine good intensions - get corrupted by the system. I am a complete cynic - when it comes to politics.

Elections don't always pan out though. I hate to sound like a nihlist but a lot of people are ... stupid. Look at Ireland. We stuck with Fianna Fail and elected Betie 'where's the money gone?' Ahern for a second time and now look where we are.
We are also suffering an unelected leader . |

Yes. Anyone in politics showing a particular religious persuasion should be *******ed off. It isn't ethical. It's fine for them to have their own beliefs, but as a politician they should have the responsibility to keep their mouths shut about such things.
