They'll probably have a mid-week and end it a day earlier on the Thursday if that turns out to be the case, but I doubt it'll be like what I've said above.

I think it will definitely have started by 1st of June, maybe up to a week earlier than that, and end on Thursday 4th August like you said.

What do we think the chances are that someone will stand in for Emma?

I don't see why she needs a stand-in tbh. It's only just a few hours on a Friday night, once a week, for like 2 months. Plus she doesn't present BOTS anymore, so she's free the other 6 nights a week.

It surely makes sense to start later this year to give Emma time to not be pregnant anymore and to build all this extra stuff?

With BB9, the Beijing Olympics didn't really affect ratings whatsoever.

Also, depending on whether the series launches early or not and the duration, the series could well finish before the Olympics or just about before it begins. For example, if they launch it on 1st June and the series is 66 days long like BB16, the series would end on Friday 5th August - which is also the day of the opening ceremony.
mess not the final getting like 100k viewers

To be honest I'd rather they began early (by which I mean late-ish May) with Rylan hosting the first few weeks of a longer series than risk running into the Olympics/have to shorten it because of the Olympics

I would rather it face 66 opening ceremonies than Rylan presenting

I think they should just launch it on Wednesday 1st June and make the series 65 days long and end it on Thursday 4th August, the day before the opening ceremony.

That way it's not too early for Emma as opposed to a May launch as her baby would've been due three weeks prior and it doesn't face the Olympics, so clashing isn't a problem

(plus 65 days isn't that short. I mean do we really want a longer BB given how it's been the past two years)

Given the amount of money they seem to be willing to pump into this series, plus the talk of a revamp from people like Ben Frow, yes, I would want a longer BB

Who knows. It's all down to whether Emma will have a replacement or not IMO. But 9 weeks is still quite long enough I guess.

Let's face it, I think the CBB series that just ended proved that those "supposed" changes for 2016 aren't going to happen for BB17. It'll just be a re-hash of the last two years because it's gotten to the point where the producers just won't learn anymore.

I would love a 78 day series like BB6 but not possible this year.

Also it's not really any shorter than the average 10 weeks/60-something days we've had in every other C5 series.

Yep, CBB17 was trash. And the messing with noms has literally been happening for 3 years now so I don't know what would make them stop now

Those changes were promised for BB17, not the entirety of 2016

And if CBB17 was "trash" then I think I've been watching the wrong series for the past four weeks

The only time we'll ever get a series longer than 10 weeks on C5 is if it averages 2.0m or above and it'll be extended due to ratings success like CBB13 was.

Either that or they cancel summer CBB and make BB thirteen weeks again, like how it was supposed to be originally

In terms of nominations meddling, it certainly was. One of the worst they done.

Can I just say how it's so weird how we now have literally as much CBB as BB.

Again, if you're judging the quality of a series based solely on the amount of production meddling - especially nowadays - then I think you're setting the bar far too high for yourself

Does it really matter? They seem to be taking CBB (their most successful show) down the same route as the Civilian BB with all the production flaws. I know I'm being cynical here, but they've tampered with the format so much in BB15/16 to point where I haven't much hope for future series. I'd love if I was wrong and they do turn it around and actually learn from the mistakes they've been making continuously since 2014 but we'll see.

I think it is reasonable to get annoyed when a HM (Megan) was evicted when they shouldn't even have been up.
