Yes in todays news
bloody single Mothers again among them [Gender Pay Gap Hits Women With Children Hardest Pay for women starts falling behind men when they start a family and plunges steadily for 12 years, a report finds. Women with children face a widening gender pay gap - leaving them 33% worse off than men by the time their first child is 12, a report has found. The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) found the overall wage gap had narrowed over the last 20 years, but mothers have been getting left behind. The study found that hourly pay rates for women were currently around 18% lower than men on average - an improvement on 23% in 2003 and 28% in 1993.] http://news.sky.com/story/gender-pay...rdest-10548274 Last edited by arista; 23-08-2016 at 11:23 AM. |

Will this Government do anything that people actually wants by the end of it's term?
We don't want the Internet being so overly policed, we don't want the possibility of Fox Hunting coming back, People streaming Piracy or people watching "obscene Porn" shouldn't be getting harsher sentences than some murderers and paedophiles, and of course we want to be able to have well paid jobs, and women deserve equal pay to men, with children or without children.

If half of their own party hadn't have turned it down then I'm sure the sicker half would've gone ahead with it.

There's an element of inevitability when it comes to children, unfortunately... No matter how you try to spin it, it will always be women who take on the physical side of carrying and birthing a child (and in an ideal world, feeding an infant) and so when it comes to starting a family, the vast majority of families are obviously going to go down the route of the woman taking a break in her career... And taking a break will be detrimental to career progression. I genuinely can't see many ways around it, other than positive discrimination, which is simply bad for everyone in my opinion.
Ironically, I think that women who have children EARLY are probably at an advantage, whereas most career driven people in reality leave it late. Those having kids in their late 30's and 40's are having to take time out from their established careers, breaking the flow, eroding contacts, etc... Whereas those who have children young and then START a career a bit later - in their mid to late 20's - then have a "clear road ahead" so to speak once the kids are a little older. |

the report doesnt mention the fact women who keep the children get all the benefits and get to keep their house too and many women actually choose to do this...the usual skewed feminist drivel

As there is now maternity and paternity leave there is the hint there that both parties are responsible for the first few months of care. Why it should be considered a 'career break' I don't know. It's a perfectly normal thing to do have a child at any career stage, why it's still viewed as a negative only for mothers and not fathers is for me regressive.

We already knew this
Women earn more than men in their early twenties and then if they decide to have kids they obviously don't earn as much. It's usually around 35 that they start earning less. It's inevitable. |
