Default Cutting (self harm)

So I am in a group on facebook called 'Roast My Selfie' where you post a picture of yourself and people basically insult you. I never joined it I got added, looked around and it was mostly light hearted such as 'your eyebrows are horrific' 'did you cur your hair with a tin opener' but I looked the last few days and there is this one girl who is posting pictures of her scars and even a very graphic picture of a large self inflected wound which she says she did because shes's unhappy etc.

● WARNING VERY GRAPHIC PICTURE ●

Spoiler:

Lots of people on the page called her out as an attention seeker and to be fair she does go live and wear quite skimpy clothes and show the scars on her legs etc so it's hard to argue that she's crying out for help but I feel so sorry for her and I was wondering if maybe contacting somebody out of her friends list would do any good or just cause more upset.

I'm very naive to anything like this so I'm not sure how to approach this or even if I should approach it at all.

I haven't said anything yet, I am a bit wary because she's not very friendly and I wonder if I even tried she may not respond well. I don't want to piss her off because I'm not sure what triggers her and I'm just a stranger etc

She's kind of friendly with another girl who posts pictures of herself all cut up too but nowgere near as terrifying as that girl who shows her deep cuts on live

That's awful, even if it's attention seeking it sounds like she needs help regardless. I don't know what the best thing to do is but I just did a search and found this online, it's a list of help/support groups. Maybe contact one of them and ask for advice, they'll deal with people like her all the time so they might be able to suggest the best approach.

She's said she goes to hospital all the time to get stitches and she's got a support worker who she calls Paula, I haven't directly spoken to her but going from the responses she gives to others talking to other people. I just feel like somebody needs to tell her mum, I think shes only 17.

The other girl is about 25 and has kids :/

Thanks for those links Jamie, the first one especially.

I might just post the link and hope she clicks it?

Yeah all of that other info is from the first link anyway so she'll see it if she clicks into it, so that might be the best thing to do (like I said I wouldn't really know how to approach someone going through that but just posting a link isn't aggressive or pressuring or anything, and even if she's not ready to do anything about it now, at least she'll have it and might use it at some point).

even if she is attention seeking, that's not a normal way to seek attention... if that makes any sense.

whatever way you look at it she very clearly needs some serious help. accessing such help is close to impossible though, through the nhs at least.

Can't you report it to Facebook for "worrying content" or whatever they call it?

Yeah I won't be looking at that picture.

But if someone reveals themselves as being a self harmed, especially like that, it isn't anything other than a cry for help. I can't imagine how lonely she must feel

People have tried to talk to her, one woman who is messaged her privately said she was really rude back. That's why I was thinking of looking on her friends list to see if any of her relatives were in there.

Yeah posting something like that is a massive cry for help I've seen self harming before but never that bad. Poor girl needs to get help ASAP

My best friend used to cut himself like this when he was younger and now he has to wear long sleeves all the time because his arms are so messed up. He's got help since and that's certainly aided his mental state but those scars are with him forever now. Really sad.

That looks horrific! She must have bled a lot, and cleaned up for the pic.
I totally understand why you would want to inform someone she knows
