I suppose some of these laws were in times when places were a lot smaller and they may have had a group of people in a village/town doing these things, so for the good of the community brought in these laws.

That or somebody was on a power trip and wanted to bring in some weird laws.

Its relative to the time. There are laws today we find acceptable that in 200 years, if not changed, people will just thing wtf
