Les Miserables - I saw this last night barely knowing a thing about it. I knew some stuff about Fantine but that was about it, so when I watched it pretty much everything was a surprise. I was blown away by the whole movie anyway. The acting was spectacular, and the singing was pretty damn good too when you consider that the majority of the cast aren't professional singers and that they sang live on set (even if it was mastered during post production). Anne really was the standout in the film anyway. When she sang I Dreamed A Dream, dear God it was more than heart wrenching, especially with all the scenes that led up to it before hand. She definitely deserves that Oscar she's been nominated for.
It was just a great film. People actually applauded at the end of it. I've never ever witnessed that happening in a cinema before. 9/10.

Just watched Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close. Took me a while to become focused, but it eventually totally engrossed me. Wonderful and extremely poignant.

Les Miserables, it was amazing. Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway was flawless and I thought the actress who played Eponine was exceptional as well. The only bad thing about the film as a whole was Russel Crowe, he was incredibly wooden.

it's probably cos his best stuff (Pulp, Reservoir) was so overlooked and he's now getting awards for IB and Django... I haven't seen the latter but they're not as good. Still excellent though.
Mine was Lincoln. All very technically great and lovely and I enjoyed it but it's not a film I'd feel compelled to watch again. Maybe cos the story's so well-documented, idk. 8/10.

Why do they release films so late in the year in america (some of them not even released here yet)? So they are fresh in the minds for the oscars?
Most of them have come in the last month or so |

Django Unchained 10/10
I'm not saying its his best film but no Tarantino film scores anything less than 10 IMO. Waltz, Foxx, Jackson and especially DiCaprio are all incredible (only Kerry Washington is underused). One of the most deliriously entertaining films I've seen this decade to be honest. Just watch it! The Impossible 9/10 I suppose the fact that its a true story probably gives this film more emotional value, but it is one of the best directed and beautifully acted disaster films I've seen. Naomi Watts really deserves that Oscar. Silver Linings Playbook 8.5/10 Ignoring House At The End Of The Street, Jennifer Lawrence can do no wrong, and this doesn't disappoint. I don't think its worthy of being the first film in 32 years to get Oscar noms in all 4 acting categories, but its a really enjoyable film, very funny at times and definitely worth watching.

Sucker Punch, it was....watchable. Visually it was great but the story was poor, it wanted to be profound but it just came across as stupid.
It would have made a better game than a film. 6/10 |

Finally watched Avatar. 9/10 I loved it, completely different from what my expectations were. Only thing is it went on just a tad too long for my liking.
