dutch are sceptical about boris johnson, he has a lot to prove they say

''The Volkskrant headlined its analysis ‘The success of the “dude of Downing street” will rise or fall on Brexit’. Describing the new prime minister as the ‘face of Brexit’, Johnson is following in the gigantic footsteps left by Lloyd George, Churchill and Thatcher, the paper said.''

''The Financieele Dagblad wonders how long Johnson will be able to hold on to the top job. ‘Will he break the record held by George Canning who was prime minister for just 119 days back in 1827?’ the paper asks. Betting company Betfair, the FD points out, says there is a 45% chance of new elections before the end of the year.''

''It is ‘now or never for Boris’ is the headline in the Telegraaf. There is a great deal of scepticism about such a troublemaker and it will be up to him to prove his critics wrong, as Winston Churchill did in 1940, the paper said.''

''The NRC says that Johnson’s choice of ministers will determine whether he goes for a hard or soft Brexit.

Many of his opponents in the leadership race have already said they will not serve under Johnson as prime minister and if he picks hardliners such as Iain Duncan Smith, Jacob Rees-Mogg or Priti Patel, then that will show he is taking a tough line, the paper said.''

one lunatic congratulating another

''
Television presenter Jort Kelder told tv talkshow Jinek that Johnson is ‘absolutely untrustworthy and unreliable and out for his own interests’. But once you take that as a given, you can deal with him, Kelder said.

‘I would consider that, given his charm, he might be able to achieve something,’ Kelder said. ‘It is too easy simply to dismiss him as a clown.’''

Few choice quotes from the Guardian

Quote:
a cabinet shaped in his own image. A cabinet of ****s, charlatans and shysters

Johnson waved his arms randomly in the air, as if someone was giving him electric shocks, and began babbling. “Pifflepafflewifflewaffle,” he began. Meet the new bollocks. The same as the old bollocks. It was basically all the fault of the 48% who had voted remain that the country was in the state it was in. The gloomsters and the doomsters had just got to learn to cheer up a bit and believe in some blue-remembered-hills version of Blighty. There’s nothing more guaranteed to make you depressed than to be told to be optimistic by a narcissistic fantasist. A man you wouldn’t trust to do the shopping, let alone run a government.

the Tory party have tried a hopeless leader with integrity and that hasn’t worked out. So now they have gone for someone who is equally hopeless and totally amoral.” A needy, badly damaged man for a needy, badly damaged country

Honestly what an absolute ****ing horror show . I can't even be bothered engaging right now. It's time to grip the sides and hope that things somehow look better in 5 years.

yes i can

and honestly Boris is quite nice entertainment for me, and yes i give him a chance as PM

like he has a more appealing charm than Theresa, i guess having people who stand behind leaving the EU in your cabinet is a smart move, and who knows maybe Boris is able to work out a deal with EU, also handy he uses that either way we leave october 31 as a bargain measure for negotiations

I mean I've accepted that things are going to be a regular cluster**** for at least 5 years but I hope they eventually improve, and I'm going to try not to think about it too much until then.
