Default Science Fans - READ!

This post I came across in the Science forum on the Official BB Forums... It almost brought a tear to my eye. VERY long, I know. But if you value Da maaaaan Science so much, you'll read. I know you will, Elz_Belz! Love ya hunni! And AMEN to the author! Keep it Scientific..

"First up I would like to point out how much I loath the type of people Ali G takes the rip out of (whether they are white kids or black kids) doing to whole gangster rap wannabe stuff.

But Science, despite what I first thought upon seeing him enter the house, is NOT one of those kids.

People talk about his ranting and raving, how he goes on and on to make a point.

Imagine this scenario: 2 men are brought to a huge fridge freezer. The first man has been eating steadily and happily for his whole life. He opens the fridge and sees it is full to bursting point with all sorts of goodies - pasties, cream cakes, chocolate, roast chicken. You name it, it's in there.

The man isn't particularly hungry so he takes a few of the chicken wings, some salad, and a cream cake for desert. Then he thinks "I'll have some other stuff as a snack later on".

The second man has been starved of everything except water for 2 weeks. Not one mouthful of food has passed his lips. He is presented with the fridge, he opens the door and is bathed in light from the huge bulb that illuminates it. What does he do? He jumps straight in, grabbing handfuls of everything and anything, cramming it all into his mouth in a seemingly uncoordinated frenzy.

Science is the second man (if you want an example of the first I would offer Derek). Science has been starved of open ears for most of his life (if not all of it). He has lived a life where he is surrounded by kids who want to loaf around, sell drugs or work in manual labour. Sure there are exceptions, but a majority of his peers fall into those catagories.

For him, appearing on Big Brother was like presenting the starving man with the fridge, and as soon as that light was shone upon him and a microphone was put under his mouth he wanted to get as much out of it as possible. This often led to uncoordinated binging as he attempted to release all those repressed thoughts, ideas and opinions in one go, but like the starving man who has once again brought sustenance to his body, Science is slowly learning to understand what it feels like to have his appetite filled.

He has settled down since going in there, and the times when he "rants and raves" are the moments when he or other people around him are being treated unfairly.

In a game show where alliences are essential to one's survival, Science has made none. He treats people with the respect he thinks they deserve. Even when Maxwell and co were cutting themselves off from the rest of the group, and someone mentioned how he shouldn't cook for them, he still did it, stating how they were all equal and all deserved a share of the meal.

Eugene is generally considered a geek in the house. Whenever he speaks to people they are clearly not interested, yet Science actually goes out of his way to speak to the man, because he realises that Eugene is from a different world to him, and there are things about him that will help his own personal evolution.

Big Brother is not just a game show or an entertainment show, it is a journey (at least that is what it should be). It is about someone going in there as one particular type of person and learning things about people and about themselves that will help them become a different, better, more well rounded person in the future.

Can you see Maxwell, or Makosi, or Kemal et el. learning anything about themselves? Of course not, because they already think they are complete. They already believe they are perfect.

Science pointed out to Anthony the other day "I'm still learning". A simple statement but a humble one that sums up what I like about this guy. He knows he isn't perfect and is simply trying to gain the knowledge needed to help him improve as much as he possibly can (see how he listened carefully to derek's advice the other day). trouble is, it is difficult to learn anything when you are surrounded by immature morons who are incapable of doing anything other than bitching, lying, and talking about "birds and booze".

I have never voted for Big Brother in my life, but I have found myself voting to evict Maxwell this week. For me it is a matter of principle. I spent many years of my life being a lad, and I knew many of the most laddish lads you could meet. In the end that lifestyle bored me to tears and I am now a more well rounded, experienced person because I got away from that narrow-minded attitude and learned to think outside the box.

In Science I see potential. A young lad who is by no means perfect but who has the opportunity to actually do something with his life, rather than sit around using the fame provided by BB to get ars*holed at Z-list parties and appear in the glossy mags, all for a few cheap quid that will pay for more booze and designer jeans.

Science is a guy who doesn't seem to care for free fame, he wants to do something to earn it. We have plenty of kids in this country who may not have the best qualifications in the world but who have genuine ideas and talent (I'm not talking about his rapping, I'm talking about his short film that won an award) and these kids are sadly overlooked for people like Vanessa (she is a Uni student, yes? To think that girl will have a degree one day and be considered "educated").

Science has come up with some very interesting lines in this series which, to me at least, demonstrate his unusual, unique mind. The line about "at least the donkey was humble enough to take Mary to where she needed to go" was brilliant. Imagine Samual L. jackson saying that in a Tarantino flick, the line would roll off his tongue and make the audience even more enamoured with Mr QT.

Let's face it, if an original thought ever entered Maxwell's head he would probably put it up for eviction. The man is a pea brained cretin with all the charisma and wit of a soiled cond*m. In my humble opinion anyone who would vote for him to win is either as shallow as a puddle or as thick as a brick. It's a sad refection upon our country (or maybe just the % that watches BB).

Yes, this has been a long rant (but I'm a fast typer so it's only taken 7 minutes ) but I really do hope Science stays on Friday, and urge all the people who never normally vote to pick up that phone and dial Maxwell's number. just do it out of principle.

Maxwell winning BB will tell so many of the youths in Britain that you can succeed by being a se*ist, narrow-minded, thuggish, drunken simpleton, and sadly those kids will end up regretting it, after all not everyone can get a shot at making fools of themselves on Big Brother, can they?"

That was a really good read and a well thought out article. He is totally right about Science and I liked his theory about the fridge. Some people see Science as an annoying loud mouth who argues all the time but there is much more to this guy than that and I really hope he wins or at least makes the top 4.

Well, that was the best written and most closely argued comment i've read on any forum this year. it's made me look at Science in a different light. I was already warming to him but I think you're absolutely right about him. Well done the author and thanks for finding it and posting, Yaz.
