With the amount they have won: I'd be surprised if they didn't make quite a few 'millionaires' - I know for absolutely certainty that if were me, I would not think twice - people who have been true friends, would never have to worry financially ever again.

£7,000 a DAY interest (estimated) Bloody hell !!!

Can you imagine the 'good' that could be done. How fulfilling your life could be, visiting places all over the world if that was your thing, helping, seeing the results.....what a fantastic position to be in.

I agree, so much of that money can go to charity. It can infact completely change the lives of numerous charity organisations.

£7k interest a day! What would be enough to live on.

Well obviously enough! Then I would get rid when I'm about to die

In the papers
that silly couple had to move out there home due to strangers asking direct for cash.

She said she thought of not going Public
that would have been better.

They thought they could stay in the house
after telling the World the place the live.
They have much to learn.

Good on them any derogative comments about them speak volumes about the morons making them.
They have already expressed a wish to set up a charitable organisation bless them x

Personally i would tell everybody that i planned to keep every penny and screw charity whilst simultaneously going about making decisions on how would be best to contribute a good chunk of it to help as many people/charitys as i could. Any haters would be exposed and seen for what they are.

Yep..... £7k a day. Utterly beyond everyday folks comprehension really.... I'd just sit and giggle seeing the interest rolling every day - feck...imagine the compound interest !!!

Here comes the down side of the lottery winners.... from a head f*** pov - it must be right up there in the top 10.

This is where they find their lives have now changed forever - and this is the down side coming into play. This is where they find who their true friends are.

They should be able to spend their money in whatever way they want - they won it fair and square.

I know you live in Wales. Even if you've paid your house outright - £200k still is not a lot of money.

It's £20k per annum for 10 years: and honestly, as much as it sounds a huge amount -it isn't. It can be spent in the blink of an eye.

I've always said that if I won that amount of money, I'd build my own little area with a few houses, and everyone that I loved would get their own house and we'd make our own little village with all of our massive mansions I'd also give a lot of money to support local charities - the bigger and more well known ones all get a lot of money but quite often the smaller local ones, such as local hospices and animal shelters really have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to survive, so I'd like to make a big difference to them, rather than a smaller difference to another charity such as childline, which already gets a lot of money.

I'd rather opt to call them naive - they've never experienced this before. I do however think they should have avoided the publicity until they got their heads around it all...and when it had sunk in, then made a decision on whether to go public - when they have grasped how this would change their lives.

Shame but it was a certainty to happen. As long as they are able to not let it 'get to them' - they have a lot of adjustment to do.

I would pack up and ship out to foreign shores - if I won anything that was truly substantial (ie: I mean a few million)

I live a life where I actually don't need too much to keep me happy - I don't need (or want) a huge amount of people around me.

I'd jaunt between some fab private tropical exotic beachhouse and somewhere in the middle of a forest - and be happy to become the next old Brigette Bardot, with my closest friends being at the end of a phone/keyboard and coming to visit.

If I won what this couple did... I'd probably do the same as you Lewis: give a lot of it away:

Sounds bliss!!

But Camelot would have pre warned them

Bib It is lot money for me, and my house would be paid of with a 10% of that money, I havent a big mortgage, whats the point in that have three bed mid terrace, comfortable for 2.4 children. I dont see the point of having a whoppa of a mortgage and you have to break a arm and a leg to keep up with repayments in a few years time when inflation goes up which it will people will loose they houses like in the eighties, people live for today and frig tmoz, that attitude has ruined a lot of lives. Save a little and spend a little, not spend like mad and skint for the forseeable, credit cards are abombunation, you know I cant spell Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.

Yes, Camelot would have advised them. Not only would they have done so, Camelot would have provided their own advisors to be available to them, and free of charge. You can take that from me, that I know this as absolute fact.

To bring it down to simplicity for you - an advisor advises. They give advice only. They would have been advised on reasons for disclosing, as well as reasons against. The decision belonged to the winning couple.

Much as I love you to bits tmi.... this is one we are not going to agree on. I accept you are saying that to you, £200k is a lot of money.

It believe it isn't a lot. To me, I do not regard it as enough to be life changing. Nowhere near close enough to be life changing in the way some people may think.

We are going to have to agree to disagree and accept that we have very different opinions on this one.

I'm feeling better thanks toots. Still not quite fully recovered but still...far better! will pm (I promise!)

Oh I totally understand what you are saying, and why. You are indeed correct: but I don't like the comparison to 'one man's tat, another man's gold'. It wasn't meant like that.

As for the Pimms.... large one please... full of ice!
