Default Where exactly did Power Trip go wrong?

Hey guys.

So this might be a bit of a funny topic, but basically I want somebody to explain why BB15 is hated so much. I started watching the series and found it quite good at first. and enjoyed the first couple of weeks. I loved Kimberley, Jale, Toya, Christopher. But then around the time after Toya was evicted I just kind of totally forgot about the series. I think I came back to the forum a couple times just to check in but I didn't fully comprehend where exactly it had gone so wrong.

So why is the series hated so much? And also how did Ashleigh go from being so quiet to being the forum favourite? Also did I really miss much or was I wise for ditching?

Haha thanks for any answers guys.

You were very wise for ditching. Casting was horrendous that year, it was filled with miserable like-minded people. The twists and production manipulation was also unbelievable. Helen getting a pass to the final, Danielle getting evicted, Marlons eviction and not to mention the constant tampering of nominations which got Toya evicted. Everything about it was bad.

Agree with this. I don't think the casting was particularly bad as such, there was some really good individual characters in there. As a whole, though, the series was poorly executed.

Final pass
Toya/ashleigh losing immunity
Danielle being evicted when it was meant to be kimberly but she walked and they still carried on with the eviction
Randomly 'evicting' Helen
The cast it seemed like a channel 5 towie

Were Marlon and Danielle actually well liked, or were their evictions just super tampered with?

Tampered with, especially Danielle's.

Kimberly was supposed to leave but she was "ill" so they chose someone else which was Danielle only for Kimberly to never return to the house.

Yikes.

Seems like this series kind of disintegrated over time.

Maybe a good thing I didn't watch it whole. BB14 was the last series I watched in full, so I don't have a totally bad taste in my mouth watching the current one.

The series was dead on arrival. The cast is probably the least likable ever, I think? The only people I remotely liked were Ashleigh, Danielle, and the Chrises.

lmfao if push came to shove and I had to choose someone to round out my top five I think it would be bloody PAV that's how dire the cast was.

It was an exhausting series to get through. I did enjoy it, but there was so many moments of as if the producers were at times deliberately trying to piss off viewers.

Helen's win is the only win throughout the entire history of the show that has made me stare open mouthed at the TV. It took till Ashliegh was walking down the stairs to meet Emma that I realised I still had it open I never thought in a million years Helen would come anywhere close to winning.

It was the series that appeared to be totally scripted from day one. The phrase 'You Decide' was a joke and never before has a housemate had so many warnings and still stayed in the house.
Also by not watching you spared your eyeballs the truly horrible sight of Steven Goode and Miss Woodentop getting it on for all of five seconds.

Producer manipulation went too far

- The final pass being given out so early and on the second night when Pauline did not know the newest housemates at all
- Showing Helen, Jale and Kimberly Ashleigh's diary room entries
- Helen and Chris' 'fake eviction' so Helen could view and bitch about the house
- Randomly shoving in all of Helen's ex-housemate friends in constantly in the final week so she had something to do
- Switching from VTE to VTS for Biannca's eviction
- Danielle's eviction being unjust and pointless (at least it wasn't Ashleigh)
- Toya's unjustful stripping of Power Housemate and her subsequent eviction
- Ashleigh getting stripped of Power Housemate, chosen by the public, after we were told she wouldn't have to face eviction and even Emma and Rylan were pissed at this.
- Armageddon week being a flop and a half after promising so much
- Constant public interference especially the Focus Group task where Mark knew he was hated

The only good weeks were the first 2 and it really went downhill after Truthful Toya's eviction

The cast for BB15 was actually loathsome. Even the nice ones in BB15 were actually nasty people (Ashleigh and Chris). They only seemed nice because they were in a group of people who were much vile than themselves.

The theme had potential and was executed appallingly.
Twist after twist, all nomination based.

Crap tasks.

BB15 would've been better if they didn't carry on the Power Trip theme throughout the entire series, and only used it for the first week, like the Secrets and Lies theme, in BB14.

The producers got exactly what they wanted with Power Trip. Nasty, ruthless game play. And they got exactly that.
Unfortunately, it cost them ratings.

I've always thought that Armageddon eviction was always seen as bad on here because Danielle was chosen to be evicted.

If Kimberly was chosen to be evicted, I doubt many people would be complaining about that eviction and would probably have the opposite reaction, and also Marlon was also evicted without a public vote.

But 80% of the time, it's always only Danielle's eviction which is seen as playing a big part in why BB15 was crap.

Bizarre.

Honestly, I know I'm like the only person on this forum to think this...but I don't think it did? I really enjoyed BB15. Sure, it was nasty and draining, but as far as drama and talking points are concerned we certainly weren't short of them.

There were some hilariously messy characters in Steven (that storyline alone is one of the best since the move to C5) and Biancca, some good to laugh at but overall decent people like Mark and Chris, and incredible antagonists in people like Mutha P and Hellen, as well as rootable people such as Toya, Ashleigh and Danielle.

The final two is the best and most deserving in BBUK's history and so fitting that it was the first time two females made it and that alone makes it a top tier series.

To be honest it's probably my favourite series on C5.

UM calling Steven's storylines one of the best since the move to C5 is laughable and ridiculous and offensive on sooooo many levels. He was clingy and self-centered and whiny and emotionally abusive and ruined any potential Kimberly had. I certainly didn't find it entertaining when he made Kimberly destroy the photos of her ex (and then ****ing Helen told her how hard it is to do the right thing omfg I hate this cast so much), I ****ing hated when he forbade her from returning to her apartment and demanded that she have her belongings moved out and sever all ties with anyone she's ever dated. All of that stuff was just creepy and controlling and abusive.

That's not even to mention all of the other **** that pissed me off, like his constant meltdowns that being nominated was objectively the wrong decision because he brings so much to the house, and his grumblings that Ashleigh and Chris (two people he didn't ever talk to) had the AUDACITY to nominate him. He's literal garbage and Kimberly truly came in last place in BB15 because she pretty much ruined her life and is probably never going to talk to her friends or family or anyone ever again.

(I could go into similar rants about pretty much anyone from BB15 if need be!)

Everything you've just described is true (with the exception of him being emotionally abusive and Kim having any potential, she had none) and is exactly why he was a thoroughly hilarious, pathetic mess of a man. His whining and arrogance had me pissing myself all series

But it's cost BB viewership because of the producers terrible relationship with the viewer. In the long run it will do the Channel 5 franchise a disservice. Only the January CBB's are saving it now.

I mean, something like #openit is objectively entertaining, but that has very little to do with Steven himself and would've been funny regardless of where it came from. Everything else from him was textbook super controlling/emotionally abusive boyfriend, and it came at the price of morphing Kimberly from ice queen and feminist icon to subservient beta :\
