Default pavement parking - does it drive you mad ?

pavement parking bbc news 19.04.16

we all no spaces are tight

in london this is not absurd

more reliable is booking a flight

as often its no entry via the curb.

yes it is lack of consideration

driving gives right of passage

why does walking give frustration

so difficult with wheel chairs, prams and luggage.

do we need a ban

the BBC are asking

i think i need a brain scan

because i am sure common sense is masking.

in kentish they share

its 50 50 divide

is camden causing despair

by not allowing people to walk with pride.

we do need a crack down

but this problem will never cement

the next car that makes me frown

i will slap my poem if its on the pavement.

If there's obviously other parking available nearby then I find it a bit lazy... however, if they don't want anyone to do it at all then they either need to provide more and widespread parking areas for people to park on legitimately, OR make public transport cleaner and more affordable so that fewer people have to run multiple cars (not going to happen).

Most London streets can't be widened because they were built for horse and carriage and not modern day. The rows upon rows of brick terraces don't have driveways and so have to park, not only on the road but halfway onto the pavement so cars can manoeuvre past them.

As long as they don't block the entire pavement, it doesn't bother me.

Doesn't bother me, plus it's easier to pass a car that's on the pavement than if it's parked on the road

Yes it's one of my pet peeves, thoughtless people taking up pavements so that disabled people, pushchairs, kids have to go on the road to get past them,it's dangerous and thoughtless imo.

I would guess that's a major part of the argument against it. When both of my kids were still little we had a double-buggy for about a year, and we did quite often have to go onto the road because of people not leaving enough space on the pavement... so, there is that potential risk to pedestrians (and other drivers, as it creates a hazard) if people end up blocking the pavements and it's as you say: people will leave space and think "Yeah, people can fit past there no problem" but they're not considering buggies, prams, wheelchairs etc.

Totally agree.
I can remember when the kids were younger having to walk on the road with pushchair as I couldn't get by on the pavement .

That's happened to me too , also to a disabled neighbour who walks with the help of a frame,he has to go in the road sometimes and he cannot walk too well,so he leans on the cars, then they have the audacity to moan at him,Some people just do not think about others.

Oh I can't stand the inconsiderate actions of others. I hope the mothers or the wheelchair users who have to go into the road to get past these cars, run a coin down the side of them.

Very annoying when pedestrians can't get past the cars on the pavements, especially with prams etc.
But what really annoyed me is when hubby and son couldn't get their cars on our drive due to alterations so they parked between the pavement and the road, both ended up with tickets off the council.
Fortunately we sorted it out on the phone and they were give a 24 hour pass to park. Amazes me how these people crawl out from under their stones that quick when it will put money in their pockets but are nowhere in sight when you can't get anywhere near the doctors surgery or shops at either end of the school day.

its very strange when you need help no one is there and when you do park or do something wrong - someone is there to see it.
