This is to true.

Fans want some live feed (not even 24/7 - most would settle for 2 hours a night bless them), normal nominations, a full length series and normal housemates and they go 'Hmm no we'll get more viewers with 24 minutes of live feed a week, a nomination twist every 3 days, cutting the series in half and sticking every person MTV has ever employed in'

They could literally improve the ratings by some promotion, perhaps some 'normal folk' entering and sticking a couple of hours of live streaming on 5STAR but no that would be too easy - they'll have 'Big Brother: Endgame' where half the housemates get evicted and replaced by even more terrible ones.

Very likely this series' Armageddon/4 in 4 out/Annihilation/Hell Weekend is happening next Thursday night.

It's fatigue. It's shocking a reality television show is even in its 18th series

Also...pushing showmances down our necks.

If I wanted that I would watch this bloody love island that they are obsessed with apparently.

I actually do not know one person who watches BB for 'romance'. And especially not for sex, that they push for year after year after year

They try and compete with the reality TV shows that are only made BECAUSE of Big Brother. Big Brother WAS the original reality TV show. They should stop trying to be a weird inbred mutated version of Love Island, Ex on the Beach, Geordie Shore, Ibiza Weekender, The Only Way Is Essex and I'm A Celebrity and just be Big Brother. They might not attract the same audience as those shows do - but the numbers will be there eventually once they undo the damage caused in the last 7 years.

- Lack of promotion
- Inconsistent format/rules
- Influx of reality stars
- Producer meddling
- Unbalanced and out of context editing (too much drama, no fun)
- Outside contact
- No live feed

FFS whats this thats happening?

A whole year of normal noms, normal evictions (though I do prefer vote to save, have to admit) and the biggest 'twist' being a double eviction. No 'secret' houses or anything. A newbie ONLY if someone walks. Door opened and people moaning about wanting to leave told to piss off now rather than indulging this ridiculous 'I want to leave' x1000 bull****. Interesting tasks that are NOT 'who said what' stirring types, natural drama is best, **** off with your fake stuff.

Housemates chosen from those who audition is my most wanted though I think. NO agent picked people. None 'invited to audition'.

Live feed instead of the bollocks that is BOTS...or a 24/7 feed online that I would be willing to pay for.

I do watch BOTS but I don't really see the need for it when the demand isn't even there for the main show.

Because C5 gave up on this series before it even started - lack of promotion, casting ex RTV stars, 10PM, minimum effort. It's clearly Civ BB's swan song.

I don't think I'd even miss civilian anymore. I do get excited for it every April/May but we haven't had an actual proper one since 2014.

It's sad how LI (a show much trashier on paper) is actually more BB than BB is today. They promote their show well, know their format, don't meddle unnecessarily like BB do, have normal people with everyday jobs (surprisingly, they may all be young and good-looking but almost all of them haven't been in the media or on TV prior to the show) and an overall much more balanced and authentic editing.

If BB put half the effort LI do, it wouldn't have such worryingly low ratings.

I feel BB has become more Americanised ever since Viacom took over with all the trashy reality stars and heavy drama/no fun approach they seem to have.

Pits just not civilian BB anymore...it's all about people who knock around Z listers and EOTB trash...
Being on at 10 pm doesn't help either.

Because Launch ratings were terrible. It was holding up OK and not losing too many viewers but if it's bad to begin with there's not much decrease left.

Shame because it's a good series so far for Channel 5 standards. I just hope they let it roll without too extreme twists like 4 in 4 out.

Maybe officials will push it to a somehow Ok number around 1,2-1,3 average.

I don't really get why some years do better from the get go than others. It doesn't have to do with the quality of the series imo but rather with other influences. I thought last year was gonna tank because of Euro and Olympia, but that did good. It cannot be all because of the quality of the series.

But it's the same with CBB.
CBB16 was arguably on eof the best, but has the lowest rating ever, whereas last summer was doing better even though the series was worse imo.

If you think about it, there is a correlation between ratings and series quality on C5

The top 3 highest rated series are BB13, BB14 and BB17 and they're the good ones, whereas BB12, BB15 and BB16 are the lowest rated, all of which are down there as the worst series.

We've had 2 series' since CBB18 and both have been significantly down in terms of ratings than usual. Hmm.

CBB's weird in terms of ratings, I think the line-up plays a big part in whether people watch or not. Some people see the line-up and aren't interested so don't bother watching.

Didn'T BB12, 13 and 15 do almost exactly the same?

I get it if a better series is pulling ratings after a few weeks, but this is down from the beginning and it doesn't make sense. 12 and 16 were boring, but there's not much they could possibly change about BB18. It's pretty heated up as it is which is the only thing they know how to artificially create.
I just try to enjoy it without worrying too much. They went with it for 6 years, they hopefully will keep it until BB20.

When rounded they have the same average, but with C5 BB's ratings being so small, the specific figures in a way make a difference lmao.

BB12 averaged 1.55m
BB13 averaged 1.64m
BB15 averaged 1.57m

BB13 was close to averaging 1.7m

The housemates are trash and the GP are beyond fed up with the so-called "twists".
