Been looking for a dog that needs rehoming today as I feel my little doggie Teddy is missing his pal Paddy who , as some of you know passed away a couple of months ago , I have been on several rehoming sites and they are full of staffies and similar breeds,so many lovely dogs that have been dumped or miss treated,it's very sad tbh.In knew they had a bad press but I never realised the scale of the need for homes for them.

Yeah it's a shame tbh, like you I was looking on the rehoming sites a while after my dog died and it was 99% staffies or cross breeds between staffies and something else.

My dads friends runs a kennel home on her farm, and does all out on her OWN! She has about 16 vizlas not including her own 2, walks them, and does everything for them! There all lovely dogs and in need of a home! Its incredibly sad for dogs to be homeless.

I do have an adopted Staffie at Roden and would rehome one, just a bit worried about the other dog and the kids, but I would have one if not for that.

It is really sad because they have this horrible reputation but its so unfair because with good owners they are lovely dogs

I know AmyJade ,all those poor unloved dogs just need a good home and people who actually care.

Staffies are fantastic dogs and pets.
I adore mine, when anything happens to him, I will certainly take a rescue one and give one a home. No way do they warrant the bad press they get. |

There's plenty to chose from Joey,I would have one myself if I had no kids and another dog.

That's the issue with rescue dogs you just don't know how they've been raised and it's such an important decision, it is so sad that so many are abandoned. Good luck looking for a new doggy kaz xx

You won't get a more loyal dog than a staffie and they are obsessively affectionate. But there in lies the problem. They are hugely protective of their "favourite" so for best results it requires a particular type of home setup. I think a single person and a staffie are an ideal combination.

The good news is however they make excellent pets. Like my best girl is.
Idiots think because they look tough it will make them look tough but if they bothered to actually read up on the breed its the opposite. They actually make poor guard dogs as they are too friendly. They are fearless of other dogs however. Last edited by LeatherTrumpet; 01-05-2015 at 08:33 AM. |

Aw
I hate when people say its the breeds that are bad when it's so obviously the owners when it comes to bad dogs.. My old dog (bullmastiff) was the cuddliest, friendliest thing but according to sky news it's one of the UK's most dangerous breeds |

mmm that's the problem with getting a rescue Staffie you don't really know what their history is and if something goes wrong they're a powerful dog that could cause alot of damage

The reason for that though is because of the amount of damage a Bullmastiff can do if it does attack, it could very easily kill a person where as something like a Chihuahua which by nature is probably more aggressive, really is never going to kill a person or do any sort of damage

I will have a rescue dog LT,We always have those,Paddy was an exception,I dropped lucky with him as he was the runt of a pedigree litter,so we had him for nothing,he had a hernia aswell,we had him sorted and he was a wonderful pet(still miss him so much),we have decided to have another rescue dog, dont know when, but we will know when one comes up.Just felt so sorry for all the Staffies and similar dogs who get treated like ****e by some people.

I know, that is why we adopted one,We thought it might help in some small way,we can go and see him at anytime, not been yet but planning to go as soon as we can,he is apparently good with kids but not other animals, but you do need to know the full history I agree.

Is it in a kind of a sanctuary thing the way you adopted him/her or do you just pay for him/her until they're adopted? How does it work?
