Ratings: A peak of 3.58 tune in for the 'shock arrival'

17 Jan, 2015 - 10:34 AM by Jake.
Celebrity Big Brother increased in ratings again last night, with a peak of 3.58m (18.1% of the viewing share) tuning in to see Chloe become the first evicted and Katie Price to enter as a new housemate.

An average of 2.92m (13.3%) watched the special eviction show, with 1.29m (8.9%) sticking around for spinoff show BOTS. This makes last night one of the highest rated eviction shows since it's move to Channel 5.

Celebrity Big Brother Live went on to grab 863k (10.4%) until 12:15AM.

I know, holy cow!!

We're just waiting for the average! It should be a 3m+ average if the peak was at 3.6m!

I don't think it's been tapechecked so the average may be higher. According to the breakdown, it looks like it peaked with Price's entrance. Fantastic for BOTS and that is an incredible rating and share for BB Live!

Hope tape checking squeezes it over 3m! Tonight it'll be low 2's again, but Sunday is the test... Could we see another near 3m figure?!

I'm glad that C5 are doing well. They just need to fill in the spot between Highlights, and BOTS a bit better. They need something like Battlestar Galactica.

I know many disagree, and that is fair enough, but i feel the normal series does a lot of damage to what the CBB series achieves. CBB draws in new viewers and when the normal BB comes back on people begin to slowly lose interest in the show again and the ratings drop. Then it's up to the next CBB to regain those viewers.

Amazing raiting. It will be interesting to see what happens now with ratings in the week.

With these highly successful winter CBBs just makes me wish they would scrap the summer CBBs that never do as well. They really should stick to one outstanding and iconic CBB per year.

This proves they should have only the winter series. I mean, what do they gain from the summer CBB series which probably gets around 1m less than the winter CBB despite spending a lot of money? They can save a lot of money for cutting back again with 1 BB and 1 CBB.

I think if there is a problem with the 'normal' BB, then it's that blurry line between civilian and celeb. Many people who've been in BB could have sneaked into CBB, and vice versa.

I think the trick is to make the 'normal' BB into just that. About the average person. No more wannabes, models, etc. Let's have Dave, 32, who works as a bricklayer. Susan, 19, a receptionist - never slept with a celeb. Pete, a road sweeper from Hull - doesn't want to be a TV presenter.

That doesn't mean boring because they must have personalities. But no more wannabes. Geddit.

Last Jan actually got 3m+ just three times in overnights. Launch, Lee's eviction and final. What you meant is that there were a lot of 3m+ officials, which there will be during this series too.

As of this point, in overnights it is beating last Jan.

Lets just hope BB16 doesn't kill the good run BB is having.

It was like this last year, there was a buzz around CBB13 and then BB15 came along and killed it.
