..my son did it and I remember the endless names of case studies and how hard it was to try to remember which ones they were...we used to try to do it together, because he found that easier....so I'm sitting there crying with you Niall...but I also believe you'll do just fine as well...

I do not miss the stress of school exam results day  at uni you can tell what sort of grade you're in for because of how the course is marked (well, that's how it is for me at any rate) but school you've literally no idea because it all rests on the exam...

For my AS results I got

A - Sociology
B - English Lang & Lit
B - Politics
C - Psychology

I'm happy with my results, I worked really really hard for them. I'm shocked at Psychology though because I revised a LOT for that and actually enjoyed it, never thought I'd end up dropping it #awksitch

Have they really?

Not a good move imo, leaves the inability to resit a Jan exam in June and like you said, thats a hell of a lot of content to learn for 1 exam period!

Yes :(

No more January exams so we have two exams for all four subjects in May, and any resists have to be done next June on top of all the A2 exams in each subject. It's really frustrating but I'm just happy I wasn't born two years later because from September 2015 they're going linear with them all being at the end of A2 with no more AS exams. D:

13-04-2014, 08:43 PM
I know so many people in that situation, thankfully I don't have to retake anything and since English doesn't require revision I only have two subjects to deal with

I don't think I'm ready for uni though, I'm not comfortable with the idea that after three years it's time for the real world . It's way too soon :/ I think I really just need an extra year, not a gap year as I'd hate one whole year of doing nothing, an extra year of college. So yeah in the back of my mind I'm secretly hoping to fail.. lol

Benjamin

I said I wasn't ready for uni and took a year off...and then I never ended up going, kept putting it off. I'd advise you going as soon as possible unless you have something set in stone that you're going to do for a gap year

Benjamin
13-04-2014, 09:39 PM
Did you not defer before taking a gap year, Nathan?

King Gizzard
13-04-2014, 09:41 PM
No I just left with quite terrible results and sort of put off doing anything about it. Never really knew what I wanted to do at uni/wasn't ready to leave home

My 6th form was terrible with helping me too. Should have gone to a college instead of staying at school 6th

King Gizzard
13-04-2014, 09:42 PM

my biggest regret is not trying harder in school... you just dont believe it when people say it to you in school

however, I dont think i'd be where I am now if I didnt do badly at school. I'm now a teaching assistant and the past two weeks have been two of the best in my life. I have absolutely loved it.

its sad because I was only at the school for 2 weeks... but they want me to work there full time. It takes more or less an hour to get there though.

My tutor at college always said that A-levels would be the toughest exams you'd ever do and she was so right.

I put off going to uni for two years after I finished. I had to force myself to go, thinking if I didn't do it then I never would. Pretty much hated every minute of my first year and had to drag myself out of bed in the mornings but 2nd and 3rd have been great.

Glad I've done it now. At least it's out the way, I can't wait to get back to work though as daft as it sounds. I'm well and truly bored of education.

Yeah I know it's not the end of the world and I have a shot but it's so disheartening when every module, both exam and coursework, were Cs and some were barely Cs. :( I'll look at some lower grade unis to apply for and hope for the best

It's so annoying my Spanish ability is assessed on one random speaking exam and a 2 and a half hour paper, when I could hold a basic conversation when locals when I visited Spain :/

..I do think language exams really aren't very good at all tbh and it's proven when you speak Spanish so well...I understand how disheartened you feel and I think everyone would feel the same but these results can be changed quite dramatically next year and at least it helps you know what your aims are for the year..and Doogle, whatever your final grades and whichever uni you choose with them, it will be the right uni for you and you won't feel disappointed or sad at all about it....because you'll just be enjoying it all so much...

Why not try resits befor A2? It's worth a shot...
What grades do you need for the uni you want?
Yeah I will do them, it's just so annoying that they removed January exams so I have to revise so much more all for June next year :(

ABB in any subjects

..I do think language exams really aren't very good at all tbh and it's proven when you speak Spanish so well...I understand how disheartened you feel and I think everyone would feel the same but these results can be changed quite dramatically next year and at least it helps you know what your aims are for the year..and Doogle, whatever your final grades and whichever uni you choose with them, it will be the right uni for you and you won't feel disappointed or sad at all about it....because you'll just be enjoying it all so much...

 I know I can do a lot to fix it next year and I'm confident I can give it my all and get into a uni I love, it's just so hard to take in when you first see the results

CCCU

Very angry and upset but w/e it's done and I'm going through to A2

My U was in economics

Don't worry too much about first year. I went from CCCD to AABB...or be it I had zero life in second year, but I can't complain after I has too much fun first year for my own good.

I would, but our exam board are charging £45 for a remark.

Charging for remarks is insane. Perhaps if the mark remained the same I could understand.

Tbf I doubt it's a regular occurrence that they do mess up

Very disappointed with the RE cos I revised for that more than the other two and felt the exams went better than both my other subjects but oh well.

Idek why I picked it :skull: it was a last minute decision cos I didn't know what to do and I got an A (nearly an A*) at GCSE but I've HATED it at A-Level and it's so useless to me lmao
