Last week I got my results and forgot to post them here. I only had to sit one exam this year, as my Sixth Form have scrapped AS Levels unless they are mandatory (e.g. I think everyone who sat Maths had to do it as well as some people who done a different course which equated to an AS/A-Level, and people who are dropping a subject at the end of the year too) as they do not mean anything to UCAS or stuff like that anymore.

I done ICT (Cambridge Technicals), which I chose over Photography due to me dropping that in the beginning of the year which I now regret, and I was **** at the subject. The course was linear, but I was able to complete the course only doing 2 exams but I don't know what that really equates to, I need to find out when I get back so I can put it on UCAS. We had two different teachers, and the paper one teacher we initially had in the year was realy nice but she was up the duff and left in November, so I stopped turning up when they failed to employ a new teacher until the new year - who just happened to be an alcoholic teacher who had to take time off after being drunk in her Health and Social lessons (She was a Business/ICT and H&S teacher). I just stopped turning up to the lesson because I kinda gave up, but it was the easier paper and there were a lot of guess questions and 15 marks on ticky-boxes. I turned up to one lesson after easter, but decided to **** it and get more frees. Then the other class, same thing happened, I stoped turning up after new year because I couldn't be arsed but the teacher was more strict and collared me to ask why I hadn't been going to the lessons, so I started going back but not that much (I recall never going on a Thursday for some reason) and then when I decided to drop the subject I kinda just went away but came back before the exam but I got scared and hid until I came to the lesson one time and he thought I didn't have to turn up so I just was like ok bye then.

Paper 2 teacher, he humilated me and was very rude. I hated him. He used to joke about my grades to the year 13s in the computing classes and also the year 13s that were in our class to who didn't get good enough grades. He just wasn't nice and tried to have banter with me but its just like **** off you're a **** teacher please don't disguise it with humour because thats what he does. He told me on the last lesson I went to I was never going to pass the subject....

Well I passed ICT :) So how do you like them apples sir. I can't wait to go back next term and see his face. I didnt do much revision because I just gave up and I had so many circumstances which affected me in the exam/prior to the exam, yet I still done it. I was really happy with how I done. I think I only get 8 points for UCAS but it is still something and I am chuffed with myself. Its good to prove people wrong, and teachers like him just shouldnt be teaching.

I start my Health and Social Course next year, with Media Studies and Film Studies. I have to stay an extra year, but I always wanted to do that anyway because I didn't want to go to University Straight Away. We done Mock exams for Media and Film in our final week before Work Experience, and we will be getting those results on the first day of the term. I'm more nervous for them because I get to see how I'm really doing in these subjects, because I feel like I haven't properly been assessed until now as we sat two papers for each subject and were full time, it was quite intimidating and approximately 4 hours in that hall is quite frankly disgusting i dread the full time of A-Level exams next year AND I may require extra time due to my mental health issues preventing my concentration, RIP and you arent even allowed for a piss in the exams >:( fuming

But Congratulations and well done Daniel and AProducer'sWetDream for your grades and getting into University <3

Hi all, good luck with your results today if you are getting them!

I didn't post last year, but got C's in Media and Film

I stayed an extra year and got an A* in my Health and Social Care Diploma which accounts for 3 A-Levels. I'm not going to University and just getting voluntary experience and a job so I can earn money but university may be on the charts in the future :)

My A-level results ended up being better than my predicted grades, my mocks and my AS-levels so I do really feel for this year's students, if I was getting my results they'd probably be worse than what I actually got. Some teacher's obviously were over inflating grades though so it is a difficult one but given that students have been deprived of the chance to prove themselves and live up to those expectations I do think its harsh to knock back so many grades, especially given the price that the young have paid for this pandemic

Yeah I got BCCD at AS Level and then bumped them up to AAB for my final A Levels.. it’s crazy... it means they won’t be able to get into unis they had planned on going to and won’t be able to go into careers they imagined themselves getting into (those that require certain grades (medicine, Vet, dentistry, engineering industry, scientist, finance etc). It must be so frustrating

The pandemic was nobody's fault, not even the Tories. I'm sure no one who's had their grades fiddled with is happy... but on the upside, everyone can resit in the autumn. Whatever happened, whatever "solutions" were decided, however it had been handled, hardly anyone was ever going to be happy.

4 years away from voting, it's not even a consideration at this point as things will be back to normal (hopefully) over the next couple of years. There are clear distinctions in the kids that kept their grades, and the kids that didn't. This also goes back to Goves exam policy change in 2013.

A-level exam results fury grows as Ofqual suddenly suspends appeals policy...

Students are vowing to hold the government to account over the A-level results row as the exams regulator for England suddenly suspended its own policy on exam appeals.

Around 280,000 students saw their grades fall by one grade or more following the introduction of a new algorithm, which was put in place after the coronavirus lockdown led to exams being cancelled.

But students have been left furious by the new system, with many losing their places on their chosen courses after not meeting the required grades.

Yesterday, the exams regulator Ofqual published guidance about its appeals process announced by Education Secretary Gavin Williamson.

But late last night, Ofqual's board said it is reviewing its own criteria for students who hope to challenge their A-level grades on the basis of their mock exam results.

Ofqual said in a statement: "Earlier today we published information about mock exam results in appeals. This policy is being reviewed by the Ofqual Board and further information will be published in due course."

Conservative MP Robert Halfon, the chair of the House of Commons' Education Committee, branded the development "farcical".

Yeah, this kind of "no one's to blame" hogwash doesn't work in the reality of what has happened.

Firm linked to Gove and Cummings hired to work with Ofqual on A-levels...

A company run by long–term associates of Michael Gove and Dominic Cummings has been working behind the scenes with the exams agency Ofqual on its disastrous strategy for determining A-level results, the Guardian can reveal.

Public First, a policy and research firm owned by James Frayne and Rachel Wolf, who both formerly worked for Gove, has been involved on the project with Ofqual since June after being granted a contract that was not put out to competitive tender.

Details of the contract have not been made public and Ofqual declined to say how much public money had been spent hiring Public First.

The firm is understood to have been initially contracted to assist Ofqual with communicating its A-level and GSCE results plan to help secure public confidence in the strategy.

A spokesperson for Ofqual said it initially contracted Public First without a tender to work on “insight on public opinion for this year’s exam arrangements”. The spokesperson added: “Public First is currently assisting Ofqual’s small communications team with an unprecedented amount of media interest in a complex policy area.”

Wolf, a former adviser to Gove when he was shadow education secretary, is one of several staff from Public First who are understood to have worked with Ofqual on the approach to the awarding of A-level, BTec and GCSE grades for students, who were unable to take their exams due to the Covid-19 school closures.

A Cabinet Office spokesperson told the Guardian that Gove had not been involved in Ofqual’s appointment of Public First. They said: “The Cabinet Office had no involvement in the contract and did not discuss it with Ofqual.”

The algorithm used by Ofqual downgraded 40% of the A-level grades assessed by teachers under the process set after the exams were cancelled, leading to a storm of protest from students, parents, school leaders and teachers, that culminated in a complete government U-turn on Monday and the system being scrapped.
