I think they just need decent, long term replacements. As much as I like the teenagers the show seems like it's starting to focus on them as the central characters almost, which is a big no no in my eyes. You don't want it turning into just another chav sitcom.

The Maguires were perfect as full time characters when Kev, Veronica and Marty left. Now they need another set of full timers.

Thats a shame I really like Paddy and Sean Gilder is a very good actor:(. I like Tina and judging from her interview on C4 website before this series values her place on Shameless but who knows what goes on behind the scenes?.

The last 2 episodes have not been bad. It's just a bit odd how the randomly drag up a Psychopath from nowhere like the guy who is after Carl and Ches.

I think this series has had both it's good, and bad episodes. The one where Frank met up again with Libby and she was suffering from bouts of narcolepsy in it was hilarious. I think it was the same episode where Lilian was hearing voices from the afterlife through her TV a la Poltergeist.

Shameless is set to welcome two new characters.

The Channel 4 comedy drama, which stars David Threlfall as booze-loving Frank Gallagher, sees Edward Hardwicke and Philip Hill-Pearson join the cast from April 6.

Edward, best known as Dr Watson in the original TV series of Sherlock Holmes, will star as World War Two veteran Reggie, who befriends young Liam (played by Johnny Bennett) in a performance which producers say will "tear at the heart strings".

Philip, 22, joins as a regular in the series, playing Maxine's brother Bruce who lands a job in the Jockey.

Gerard Kearns has announced that he is planning to leave Shameless.

The actor, who played Ian Gallagher, has been on the show since it started in 2004.

However, PA reports that he has now decided to move on to work on other acting projects.

Kearns said that he was "happy" to be leaving and explained: "I feel I can do whatever. There's so many British actors, we're really thriving at the moment, we're really going good, and I'd like to be part of that - I'd really like to move forward with that."

The 25-year-old added that he is pleased he was able to work on Shameless.

"It's been such a good job, such a good experience," he said. "And it's given me all the tools I need to try to get where I want to get to."

While appearing in Shameless Kearns has also starred in critically acclaimed dramas Red Riding and The Mark Of Cain.

I watched the American Shameless just, Storywise it's exactly the same as ours. William H Macy makes a terrible Frank and their Yvonne and Sheila are terrible but everyone else ain't bad. Ours is better in everyway but it's watchable.

Im liking this so far its great to have it back i hope mickey features more he was brilliant in the last series having him pretty much as the central character was unexpected but it worked well.
I just watched episode 1 of the us version of shameless now that is weird as hell.
