I have no problem with her music, fine electopop, but the lady herself is clearly thick as a pig. Unlike other shock artists of years gone by, there is no point to her act. Plenty of musicians in the past have dressed outrageously to provoke people into thinking about something.

She is just provoking people as an end unto itself. The girl would cut her hair off and eat it and consider it 'art' like these silly new age artist tossers. It's only art if meaning is behind it.

I completely disagree.
How is she as thick as a pig? There is too a point to her act because with out it she would just be an average singer that no one could actually care about. There is no way she would be as massive as she is now if she didn't dress so outrageously.

She's not a shock artist. All she does is wear silly outfits and sing silly songs. Marilyn Manson is a shock artist. David Bowie is a shock artist. When I see Lady Gaga plastered over the cover of every magazine, I'm not shocked or interested. I think "will you **** off already?"

Its her music that is the real product here. Thats what has really made her successful. The outfits are just the packaging.

Exactly. She knows where she's going, she's a very clever woman. She's not just an "outfit", she's also a tremendous performer and from someone who doesn't like pop music in the first place, I can say she's very good at it.

The OTT costumes are all part of her appeal.The truth is her debut album would of gone unnoticed without all the media coverage she's gotten because of her fraeky personality, nor would she have as many fans.But so what?Her music is amazing,she is an extremely talented artist and an incredible performer.If she needs to act and dress a certain way to get her music noticed then let her.She doesn't have any advantage over all the other artist in the game, she didn't come from a reality TV show nor is she related to any big music mogul's. She did everything she could to take over the charts and it worked so well done to her.She deserves all the success and nobody can deny that.

My problem with her is that she tries way too hard. Many artists before her have managed to shock people by doing much less (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Madonna etc) and it's a shame because if she wasn't the way she is, no one would really know about the music.
