I think that was a load of bollocks tbh, I think it was the Molde chairman bullying him in to staying. His kids grew up in Manchester so I doubt they'd be too gutted to come back and live there again (its only 90 minutes from Birmingham)

Excellent appointment for Villa. The sense of optimism after McLeish, coupled with a promising up and coming manager will ensure that Villa don't have another season like last one. Be really interesting to see how they get on next year.

Improving youth team till it's like Southampton or like old West Ham as top players won't want to join unless they get mega buck contracts
Rather than getting a third rate manager look at the sort of manager a big club like Man U shortlisted along with LVG eg De Boer, even break the bank to get Pep G who may be on the market following Bayern's tika taka CL flop
You won't win stuff with Agbanglorhor so sell him
Think like a top 4 club, not a mid table club who are content with a league cup quarter final


AV have got so much potential to be with the big boys - I am old enough remember they used to be considered a giant up there with Liverpools and Man Us but are so woeful now.

The scary thing if AV continue as they are they will be relegated next season.

Agbonlahor, Delph and Vlaar aren't being offered new contracts with one year left so hopefully Agbonlahor leaves but we keep the other two.

Agree. The only thing that can save AV is a new owner who would sack Lambert, RL offering him a contract is so stupid. The new boss would probably have to pay out £2m in compo which for AV is a huge chunk. Having said that if Vincent Tan can buy Cardiff then I don't see why an ambition new owner can't buy AV. AV needs TLC more than any other PL club, as it's a club that could be giant in the way West Brom could never be, but it's in dire straits. Even their fans are giving up an not buying season tickets. Who would want to spend every other week at Villa Park watching your side go for a bore draw on'y to lose.

I think anyone who wasn't around 26+ years ago would just see AV as a minnow and not realise it's one of the "sleeping giants".

They've won a European Cup, though. Minnow is also more a word associated with the likes of a League Two side.

They're also the fourth most successful club in England in terms of honours.

There should be major interest, tbh. Especially seeing as though City got a Sheikh despite not being of the stature of Villa.
