This thread probably will be closed even though it really shouldnt, as reading hte opinions of people could be valuable for the forum on this issue, but i am just trying to get peace not arguments, in that BB11 thread people were arguing they had more friends than each other on the forum...

come on this is meant to be a site for clashing opinions, i think its stupid when some threads are closed just for arguing, but when people start becoming petty and bringing forum popularity in it, it starts getting stupid.

I deliberately decided to stay detached because I dont wanna get sucked into that whole mentality. It can be quite addictive if you buy into it. I have my friends in real life and dont feel the need to look for them on internet forums. Nor do I need emotional support or constant compliments. Some here seem very needy. My presence here is purely for sh!ts and giggles. And to vent occasionally.

I did do the whole friends list and personal pictures stuff at another more adult forum. But here I wanna keep it more casual.

exactly the same here, i have friends in my life, i see this forum as a nice bit of fun, dont want to get too involved and be worried about my popularity on this...i do think its nice people who do consider people true friends on here though, i just think that a consequence of that are the divisions that grow when people arent all friends

Oh and TiBB has always been a popularity contest really, it's just got so much worse this past year. TiBB (IMO) is practically dead, and it died when it moved forums, they lost far too many good members, though not necessarily through the forums changing, and gained too many rubbish ones.

Golden era for me was during BB8, such a good laugh then, but I heard 2005 was apparently good haha.

The forum is no longer what it was imo, it's lost it's sparkle and the only reason I'm here now are for the handful of members I like.

Of course it's practical to say we should just ingore them, hell I've done it before on here and told people to do it. But there's always one or two that just can't resist, and have to go replying to their posts. It's just the way of the world. It can't be avoided, and so they win. So the only other option is to bring them down a peg or two, because then they might **** off.

As for how they feel, of course I contemplate that. But if I think they're a troll - the only thing that I think they'll be feeling is happiness that they're getting the attention that they want. And did I ever claim to be an expert? Jesus Christ.

Tbh Wombai, on this subject, trolls come in many guises. They don't just spam. They create a whole new persona. They fool people, and they are very good at it. Sometimes it takes them years before they are caught out. Ask some of the members on here. They are quite clever.

Of course it's practical to say we should just ingore them, hell I've done it before on here and told people to do it. But there's always one or two that just can't resist, and have to go replying to their posts. It's just the way of the world. It can't be avoided, and so they win. As for how they feel, of course I contemplate that. But if I think they're a troll - the only thing that I think they'll be feeling is happiness that they're getting the attention that they want. And did I ever claim to be an expert? Jesus Christ.

I think somebody like jedwardfever is just a bit mischievous tbh. When he first came on during the last BB he did make an effort to be included; he posted a lot and started many threads. But he got jumped on instantly because of his punctuation and grammar. Which put him on the defensive all the time and made him frustrated. But I could see he just genuinely wanted to fit in.

Since then I think he kinda feels that if he's gonna be treated like an outcast then thats how he'll act. He digs at those he feels ****ed up his acceptability here; its his way of getting noticed. But he's a good example of somebody who COULD be a good member if he were cut some slack and shown some good will.

Did I ever say they wouldn't think that? There's always a few members that I think post crap, but I know aren't trolls. I just wish the arguing was about something constructive.. not all of this nonsense about cliques and friendship groups.

Certain members have certain friends on the forum.. that's just the way it is and that is fine. consider a fair few members to be friends. As I have said before, I just think that a certain few selection of members take the forum way too seriously and when an argument does crop up they find it hard to let it go as this forum is like real life to them. I just find that if you ignore it and just not bother with it, then the members who aren't as obsessed with their online friendships will stand out to you and you can chat to them instead. A few members may seem like they are quite popular.. but a lot of that is because they have been on the forum a lot longer and everyone has gotten to know who they are.. 99% of them are lovely members. There will always be a big group of members who seem to be more popular as-well because they are members who regularly post so people get used to who they are and find out more about them as they see their posts more. Most popularity isn't exaggerated by members themselves.. it is just something that comes to them over time. It's just a shame that certain members seem to take this popularity personally and as you said in the OP.. it is a bit silly.

no-one else would have, thats the thing. and it could have resulted in her leaving the forum.
