He's been a Weatherfield regular for thirty years, but Jack Duckworth is set to leave The Street once and for all this autumn.
Bill Tarmey has been written out of the show, with Jack Duckworth set to be killed off.
And today his castmates filmed heartbreaking funeral scenes that will bring a tear to any Corrie fans' eye.
The pictures show Ashley Peacock (Stephen Arnold), Kevin Webster (Michael LeVell), Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) and Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) paying their respects to Jack, who is best known for his enthusiasm for pigeons and tempestuous marriage to Vera.
Bill Tarmey announced he was leaving Coronation Street in April and will make his final screen appearance in the next few weeks.
It was initially believed that 'our Jack' would die in the tram crash being planned to mark the show's 50th anniversary, but it has been revealed that he will actually die from cancer.
According to reports, Jack Duckworth will draw up a 'bucket list' of things he wants to do before he dies, inspired by the film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
When on his deathbed he will also see the ghost of his wife Vera, who passed away in 2008.
Tarmey made his first appearance as Jack Duckworth in 1979, with his turbulent courtship and subsequent arriage to Vera (Liz Dawn) securing their position as two of the show's most popular characters.
Among other special anniversary events, Coronation Street bosses are planning a special live episode this December to celebrate the soap's 50th birthday.
