But her friends and family etc will still call her Kate. The point Kerry was making which you seem to have missed is that its the press who have gone all formal since the announcement of the royal engagement.

Her full name was the same before the engagement. It hasnt changed, only the way they have started referring to her.

And she doesnt have a marital name because she isnt yet married.

I don't see the problem. Most people call me Ben, but in the professional world people refer to me by my full name (which I prefer). It is, after all, her full name, and Queen Kate sounds a bit weak.
