37 votes in round 1, 35 in round 2. I'm not sure why speculating how many voters were moderators, it's a thread for everyone...

It's just that the increasing trend is that there are more moderators than users posting/online at particular times. I counted one day and on page 1 of C&G the number of threads started by moderators exceeded the number started by users.

Here is a quirky site which amuses me - normally moderators are 'invisible' people who only post or interject when things get out of hand - you honestly don't know who they are. Here moderators are leading the parade and doing things like seeking votes from banned users using offsite methods - hilarious.

When mods have particular groupings of pals (and are seen to be engaging-in/leading chatter) within the user group or from MSN, whatever - then (rightly or wrongly) my perception is that they will be unable to act in an objective/value neutral way.

When thre proportion of mods to active users is low this probably ain't even a consideration. When mods start outnumbering users I believe it is.

The site still amuses me no-end probably for these reasons which is why I'm addicted to it.

But in this case I really dont see a problem, it seems a bit like you are letting your personal feelings about andy get in the way of it all. Its really not that big a deal to get votes in something like this from him, especially as he voted in the first round.

Also, to enhance my earlier point I was sure I had done a poll on this faceless mods thing before and I found it here (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=1616)(also 3 of the mods who voted on it, were not mods at that time :p)

Some good ideas are brought up in that thread, but in general...only one person who voted had a problem with the mods being members too.

Thats more the infraction system than anything else, with the way the forum used to work they would have been permabanned months ago. I much preferred the old system.

Though now, no infractions are being used on them anymore, its just straight out bans, increasing each time the spamming happens and leading to permanent if they keep pushing it. Should chill it a lot.

They get infracted the same as everyone else, remember people don't get banned unless they go over a limit so usually it isn't a concious choice by the mods to ban someone unless it's permanent and we don't use them lightly.

I voted in it but I voted first so that my votes weren't influencing the outcome later on. There were two rounds; a nominations round to sort out 50-ish members who would make up the final list, and then a second round which saw members vote for their favourite 10 from that list and they had to rank those in order of preference, iirc. Have a look back at the other competitions to get an idea of it :)
