Kate Ford is to quit 'Coronation Street' for good.
The actress recently reprised her role as conniving Tracy Barlow in the Manchester-based soap and while bosses had hoped she would extend her initial six-month contract, she has decided to leave again because she hates being away from her two-year-old son Otis.
She is said to have told a friend: "It's really stressful right now as I hate being away from Otis. I am back at 'Corrie' for four more months and then I'll come back to London to find work.
"We have good contacts so hopefully I'll find something."
However, Tracy - who was last seen bleeding and unconscious in the street on New Year's Eve (31.12.10) - will continue to cause havoc over the next four months as she is being lined up as the new barmaid at the Rovers Return, where she will try to win back former lover Steve McDonald.
A source said: "Tracy is one of the most popular characters, the one we love to hate, and so where better to put her than behind the bar at the Rovers?"
Tracy returned to Weatherfield after being let out from prison on a technicality, where she was serving time for the murder of ex-boyfriend Charlie Stubbs.

She was brought back by the last producer, so I guess she isn't part of Phil's plan
She's gonna be around until May/June by the sounds of it though

Sorry, I hate it when they recast adults so I hope they don't. They should get a new bitch instead.
Tbh, I'm quite sad about this as I like Kate Ford a lot. Seems PC's heart was never in her return.

I think it could have worked better if Kim Crowther was in charge still as it was her who signed Tracy up, so she would have had a plan for her (and lets face it, all of KC's hopes were riding on Tracy's return) where as Phil has his own plans for the show and Tracy no longer really fits in them

These papers are hilarious,I read the above story and then another paper saying they were planning on making her(Tracey) the next Rovers return landlady, lol.

yeah I know, but all in all I'm glad Kim Crowther's not still in charge.

Apparently she may become a barmaid, but she'd never become landlady, she has a criminal record (which is why Steve and Becky can't be landlord or landlady)

The article says that they hoped she would stay and it was her decision to leave because of her son so it might not have been because of the new producer

I reckon she'll just piss everyone off, then do a runner, probably come back after another 18 months :joker:

I refuse to believe this until PC confirms;), we all know what the papers are like with their so called sources and they have got some things wrong about certain storylines before...

Bloody silly if true. Like she is going to get any other acting work, she is an awful actress & I don't recall seeing her in anything while she was away from Corrie... Typical actor/actress believing they are bigger than the soap they are in & think they can do bigger or better things...

I personally suspect she's been axed and this is all a front for the media.

Possibly, the reaction to her return on the whole hasnt been too good
What a let down, she's a great character as well

They went through all that trouble thinking up a way of getting her out of jail and then she quits. lol. Good riddance we can get back to more interesting stories than her liaison with the Platts.

If, as the storyline seems to be heading so that she gets her conviction overturned then there would be no barrier at all to her being a Landlady then.

Gutted if this is true. I love Tracy and it's great to see her return. She has an acid mouth and has brought a little humour back into the Barlows, after the great loss of Blanche
I really miss Blanche and I know Ford is no replacement for the wonderful Jones, it's just great to see the Barlows at war with many of the streets residents, thanks to Tracy.

Tracey's no longer listed as a 'departing character' on wiki. Maybe she's changed her mind, not seen any official info.

Still nothing confirmed on DS, I tend to believe stuff that is confirmed on the soaps homepage as they are in contact with soap PR teams and producers etc.

I hope she stays. The next few months she could be busy again with the storyline that she is back and stuff but then afterwards she could take a backseat on the street and not work as many hours and can still spend time with her sprog.
