He's made a bit of a pigs ear of EE, all the exits have pretty much been damp squibs and not really made too much sense, he's made characters unpopular, and now he's created all this controversy...should he step down and let another producer take over?

Yes, get him back to Oaks

It's weird to think this is the guy who lead Hollyoaks through it's glory days

He needs to stick with what he knows! lol
I knew he would ruin Eastenders!

Lol true, saying that though...
One thing I find funny looking at the soap producers is the place they all started out (Bar Paul Marquees)
Bryan Kirkwood - Scriptwriter for Corrie in the Hillman era
Gavin Blyth - Assistant Producer of Corrie in 2008, and producer of Corrie: Out of Africa
Carolyn Reynolds (HO Exec Prod) - Producer of Corrie in Hillman era
Tony Wood (HO Exec Prod) - Producer of Corrie in 2004-2006

Hollyoaks producers should NEVER be allowed to work on EastEnders, it's been turned into a show aimed at teenagers just like Hollyoaks.

No, the viewers need to stop being such dickheads though.

I remember when Santer was in charge, I hardly ever heard a bad word said against the show, that's all I hear now

No it hasn't, BK has worked on Corrie before and so what if he worked on Hollyoaks?, some people have such snobbery about the show when they haven't watched it. I mean some of the actors have been cast on looks only which is wrong but they don't get enough praise and are just laughed at.
That said I don't want BK back on HO:D.

I have watched the show before and I didn't like it. The acting was bad and the storylines were far fetched.
In regards to Santer he was also a rubbish producer and did no favours to the show but he was a lot better than Kirkwood is. That being said I don't think Kirkwood has had enough time yet to prove himself so I'll give him another few months before deciding whether he's absolutely horrific or not.

Their is some good actors in Hollyoaks but the fair share of awful ones:blush:. Soaps have always been far fetched and HO play up to this by making their storylines more creative and different.
I wouldn't be pleased if Kirkwood got kicked out over one controversial plot:bored:.

That's the thing, he's had enough time, he has been in charge of EE longer than Phil has been in charge of Corrie, and look what Phil did in his time so far, then look what Bryan did - also Paul Marquees has changed Hollyoaks massively and he only began a bit before Bryan did on EE

Yeah that's true actually, it doesn't seem like he's been there that long but when you think of it he has. In that case, I'm really not impressed with what he's done. He's changed the show for the worse, fair enough he's been responsible for a fair few good episodes like Billie's binge drinking death but this current baby swap storyline just shows how sensationalism and ratings are more important to him than the actual quality of the show. Sign of a bad producer.

Indeed, I think a new producer would do EE the world of good, and it'd be good if the new producer didn't play up to the sensationalism like Kirkwood and Santer, but instead concentrated on telling good stories and building characters

Only watched one or two so wouldn't be fair of me to say they are all rubbish, sure there are some who are good but the ones who I saw weren't up to much. Yeah that's true, but when I read Inside Soap and find out about them doing storylines about aliens and bringing people back from the dead (apparently a character called Warren? and I know Claire from EE was supposedly dead then given a comeback after her axing from EE) it just makes me think negative of the show. Got to say the storyline they are doing about changing genders is good, one of the big three soaps should do it because not many people watch HO and it would be good to make people aware of such an issue.
I don't think he will be but I think the BBC are definitely looking for a scapegoat and he could be on his way out soon

Yeah me too. The past few years on EE they've relied too much on the same characters (Stacey and Ronnie mainly) and as a result the quality of the show has gone down dramatically. EE has always been about showing gritty storylines but there's been too many recently, they need lighter material, I know Corrie is famous for having good storylines but with the comedy value and I think EE could do with a bit of that as well. We need to get to know the characters more, good thing about Corrie is you feel you know the characters and want to be involved in their day to day lives but in EE there are still some characters who we know very little about and they've been there for more than 2 years. New producer is just what this show needs or it will just get worse. :(

Why would he step down when the ratings are so high?

Yes. Yes. Yes.
He's a dull bastard who can't produce sh*t.
When you see him on the BBC3 Shows aswell he's like :bored: and I'm like 'God I bet you're a huge bundle of fun to have on set pal.'
We must get Diedrieck Santer back on EastEnders, the man was the best producer they've ever had in terms of bringing Drama and creating talked about storylines.
Brian has done the second, but in a negative way.
With Diedrieck it was more about raising awareness for Breast Cancer, Downs Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder etc etc
With Brian, he couldn't give a ****** about Cot Death.
Yeah he's raised awareness, fair dos but the guy is clearly focussing more on trying to make everyone gob smacked by what Ronnie did, rather than what a typical parent goes through when a baby dies.
It's a shame Santer would never return but we just need to get this Scottish minge bag to leave as soon as possible, the question is... If he leaves, could we be left with someone 10x worse?

Why would he step down when the ratings are so high?
Because if the average viewer had an ounce of intelligence as to know it is him behind this storyline they all hate so much, rather than the actors, then they would want his head on a stick.
He's just lucky though that most of them run to 'The BBC Action Line' that they show at the end of the show, as oppose to death threats sent to him like Samantha Womack got yesterday.

You can tell with the Queen Vic, and the Zebra chairs and stuff that they were going for teenagers and stuff with that.
I like the new queen vic though, the modern version.
It's the only thing he's done that's been good, that and EE in HD but that wasn't down to him rofl.
