I read some theories on IMDb as to what happens in S5, but this is total fan speculation, I just liked the idea :laugh:

Since there's a massive timebomb between Jesse and Walt, what with Walt first letting his gf die and then 2nd poisoning his new gf's kid, Jesse could team up with Mike, who'll probably have had a personal connection to Gus since he got into a bar-fight with Walt over the idea of turning on him.

But how Jesse finds out about any of Walt's actions will be interesting. I suppose having Lily of the Valley in his back yard is a bit of a risk but then it's too common a plant to make him suspicious.

Yeah, I found his past interesting too, he seemed kind of similar to Walt originally and Walt seems to be turning into him. I doubt they'll show much more about Gus now he's dead though..........unless they are trying to draw parallels between the two of them

I know that nobody's supposed to like Walt now but I just can't help but support the main character :conf2: And even though he's done awful things to Skyler I was practically seething when (at the end of E4) she said she was waiting for the cancer to grow back :bored:

But then I think... he poisoned Jesse's gf's kid, he's killed people, he's now purely doing the business for pride... so he does deserve hate.

On a lighter note, I love Hank and Marie sf much :lovedup: such lovely characters, I want them as an aunt and uncle.

I think this'll happen, since there's only 2 episodes left:

Walt'll try and convince Jesse to kill Mike, but snapping at him, reveals something in the way of what he's done in the past. I don't think he'll reveal he poisoned the kid, but maybe watched that girlfriend of his OD without trying to save her.

I think Saul'll just do a runner with some money and escape pretty safe :p since that's what he does often. I can't see the series ending with Hank catching Walt and finding out about everything since it'd take so long to unravel :/

I'm interested to know what Walt's plan is for "everyone wins". Especially since it entails Jesse & Mike selling their shares and Walt keeping his.

I also hope Skyler features in the climax, rather than as collateral.

Him dying, probably being exposed as a meth cook, and having his family and Jesse deal with all of that, is a lot worse than a child being ill for a short while.

I love how calculative Walt is. Loved Gus for the same reason, and Walt isn't far off that at this point.

He did it because Mike wouldn't give him the list (which he then realised he could get elsewhere...). He knew he had ****ed up immediately. I don't think he had planned on killing him with the shot, seeing how panicked he was.

Putting that under him going a bit crazy in the stress of the situation and panicking.

You try being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer; trying to support your family who will be in deep financial trouble in a high risk illegal way in knowledge you'll probably die soon anyway; which then drives your wife away to hating you, cheating on you and wishing you'd die; taking away your kids; being put in multiple situations where people want to kill you and only just avoiding death on multiple occasions; being left with nothing to live for but the one thing you were successful at :hmph: What he's been through, just about everything must seem trivial, even life.

No he doesn't at all

He seems to have lost his moral compass completely unlike Jesse who managed to keep it (eventhough he shot Gale) The difference is Walt justifies his actions and convinces himself that what he did was ok where as Jesse is fully aware of what he did was wrong and nearly falls a part with guilt. I will say though, as much as I dislike Walt he's a brilliant character

Seems most people are up to date, and I know I wouldn't even contemplate coming in to a thread like this if I wasn't..

Anyway, the discussion you guys just had about whether Walt's ends justify the means was interesting..

I think at the beginning of this, Walt was a good guy.. decent.. with morals.. and a good feel for what's right and what's wrong... but after all that he's been through, he's now gone so far off the reservation, he's lost himself along the way.

I think you can sympathise with him in that none of us can imagine how it feels to be in his position.. and in the same way that people do drastic things in war situations or disasters, you can understand that the circumstances have definitely been a huge factor in shaping his behaviour recently. I don't think it's got so much to do with the lung cancer either.. I think it has more to do with the fact that he's gotten himself so deep in to the drugs situation and doesn't actually know how to find his way back. That, coupled with the things he's seen along the way.. I mean, how many dead bodies has he seen since this started?... I'm willing to bet he hadn't seen any before that.. And, how many times has he watched someone die.. that must change a person..

Also, remember back at the start when Hank was showing him the gun, and he hadn't a clue how to hold it.. he looked nervous being in the same room as it... now look at him.. Heisenberg the gangster.. who will happily put a bullet in someone without a second thought.. he's lost his conscience along the way... become desensitised... Jesse never did. He's guilt-ridden about so much..

Looking back to the incident with Jesse's girlfriend... it was technically Walt's fault she died... remember she told Jesse to always lie on your side in case you vomit in your sleep and choke.. they were lying on their sides, when Walt came in and shook Jesse, which caused her to fall over onto her back.. then she choked on her vomit.. so if Walt hadn't came in that room, she would still be alive... not only did he not save her, but he was actually to blame for her dying in that manner...

Haha aw right but yeah, here's a huge theory people have been floating around..might turn out to be a spoiler though : i've been reading and people have been saying that they've noticed Walt take some of the traits of people that he's killed..after he killed Krazy 8 in the first season he started cutting off the crusts on his sandwiches..after he kills Gus, he got sick in this episode and put the towel under under his knees. plus when lydia was talking to him in the carwash place, it was very very much like back in the older seasons when he'd go to meet gus at that chicken place. after he killed mike he started drinking like mike : on the rocks. so people are assuming he must kill skyler because he does that bacon thing for his birthday..another thing someone pointed out

LOS ANGELES — PLAYING Skyler White on the television show “Breaking Bad” for the past five seasons has been one of the most rewarding creative journeys I’ve embarked on as an actor. But the role has also taken me on another kind of journey — one I never would have imagined.

My character, to judge from the popularity of Web sites and Facebook pages devoted to hating her, has become a flash point for many people’s feelings about strong, nonsubmissive, ill-treated women. As the hatred of Skyler blurred into loathing for me as a person, I saw glimpses of an anger that, at first, simply bewildered me.

For those unfamiliar with the show: Skyler is the wife of Walter White, a high-school chemistry teacher who, after learning he has lung cancer, begins cooking and selling methamphetamine to leave a nest egg for Skyler, their teenage son and their unborn daughter. After his prognosis improves, however, Walter continues in the drug trade — with considerable success — descending deeper and deeper into a life of crime.

When Skyler discovers what Walter has been up to, she tries to stop him, to no avail. She is outraged by the violence and destruction of the drug world, fearful for her children’s safety, disgusted by the money Walter brings in and undone by the lies and manipulation to which he subjects her.

Because Walter is the show’s protagonist, there is a natural tendency to empathize with and root for him, despite his moral failings. (That viewers can identify with this antihero is also a testament to how deftly his character is written and acted.) As the one character who consistently opposes Walter and calls him on his lies, Skyler is, in a sense, his antagonist. So from the beginning, I was aware that she might not be the show’s most popular character.

But I was unprepared for the vitriolic response she inspired. Thousands of people have “liked” the Facebook page “I Hate Skyler White.” Tens of thousands have “liked” a similar Facebook page with a name that cannot be printed here. When people started telling me about the “hate boards” for Skyler on the Web site for AMC, the network that broadcasts the show, I knew it was probably best not to look, but I wanted to understand what was happening.

A typical online post complained that Skyler was a “shrieking, hypocritical harpy” and didn’t “deserve the great life she has.”

“I have never hated a TV-show character as much as I hate her,” one poster wrote. The consensus among the haters was clear: Skyler was a ball-and-chain, a drag, a shrew, an “annoying bitch wife.”

I enjoy taking on complex, difficult characters and have always striven to capture the truth of those people, whether or not it’s popular. Vince Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad,” wanted Skyler to be a woman with a backbone of steel who would stand up to whatever came her way, who wouldn’t just collapse in the corner or wring her hands in despair. He and the show’s writers made Skyler multilayered and, in her own way, morally compromised. But at the end of the day, she hasn’t been judged by the same set of standards as Walter.

As an actress, I realize that viewers are entitled to have whatever feelings they want about the characters they watch. But as a human being, I’m concerned that so many people react to Skyler with such venom. Could it be that they can’t stand a woman who won’t suffer silently or “stand by her man”? That they despise her because she won’t back down or give up? Or because she is, in fact, Walter’s equal?

It’s notable that viewers have expressed similar feelings about other complex TV wives — Carmela Soprano of “The Sopranos,” Betty Draper of “Mad Men.” Male characters don’t seem to inspire this kind of public venting and vitriol.

At some point on the message boards, the character of Skyler seemed to drop out of the conversation, and people transferred their negative feelings directly to me. The already harsh online comments became outright personal attacks. One such post read: “Could somebody tell me where I can find Anna Gunn so I can kill her?” Besides being frightened (and taking steps to ensure my safety), I was also astonished: how had disliking a character spiraled into homicidal rage at the actress playing her?

But I finally realized that most people’s hatred of Skyler had little to do with me and a lot to do with their own perception of women and wives. Because Skyler didn’t conform to a comfortable ideal of the archetypical female, she had become a kind of Rorschach test for society, a measure of our attitudes toward gender.

I can’t say that I have enjoyed being the center of the storm of Skyler hate. But in the end, I’m glad that this discussion has happened, that it has taken place in public and that it has illuminated some of the dark and murky corners that we often ignore or pretend aren’t still there in our everyday lives.

Just finished season 3.

The first 2 seasons were both fantastic, but Season 3 is one of the greatest seasons of any show I've ever watched. Just spectacularly good, especially due to Saul and Gus :worship:

I have caught up just in time for the final 4 episodes.

Mike was my favourite character, Walt will never be forgiven for what he done and if Jesse doesn't kill him then Hank better lock him up. Pretty sure Skylar is going to die too, in that flashforward at the beginning of Season 4 (I think) it showed Walt doing that silly thing Skylar always does with his bacon on his birthday. Would be fine with her dying too because she is very annoying, especially now that she is fine with everything Walt has done.. at least when she was against it it provided a lot of funny scenes.

I think that scene with Hank and Tuco's cousins in the car park is probably my favourite.. that was one of the most tense scenes i've ever seen.

Out of all the murder attempts and life threatening positions he's been in over the years, it's only the disease that can truly take him down.

Walt, Saul and Todd are the only likeable characters right now for me.

Hank's driven crazy by his obsession to take down Walt, and Jesse's an erratic idiot. Walt's the most sane person in all of this.

'Breaking Bad' Saul Goodman spinoff confirmed by AMC, to be prequel

A spinoff of Breaking Bad has been confirmed by AMC and Sony Pictures.

The prequel, to be called Better Call Saul, will focus on the life of Walter White's lawyer Saul Goodman.

The project will bypass the traditional process of filming a pilot episode and go straight to shooting the series.

According to the network, the one-hour spinoff will "focus on the evolution" of the lawyer before he became Heisenberg's defender.

It is currently unknown how soon before Breaking Bad the series will be set.

It's also not known whether actor Bob Odenkirk will be reprising the role or whether a younger actor will portray him.

Bryan Cranston recently discussed the end of Breaking Bad as exactly what he had hoped for.

He said: "The ending of Breaking Bad is very unapologetic and appropriate and exciting, it's a rollercoaster ride."
