Three dead in plane crash, Cork County Council confirms

Thursday, February 10, 2011 - 11:17 AM

Three people have died and two others are trapped after a plane travelling from Belfast City Airport crashed in fog at Cork Airport today, a Cork County Council spokesman has said.

Fire crews and police from across the city and county were drafted in to support the rescue efforts.

The main road leading to the airport was closed to give emergency services quick access.

Full report to follow.

Jeez oh Niamh - not good - do you use that airport yourself? I think it would scare me off after this.

Yeah I do all the time:shocked: It was a Spanish plane I think, a very small one, I think there was only 12 people on board. It wouldn't really scare me off flying though, I mean you hear about car crashes everyday but rarely hear about plane crashes

When I read that report, I wondered if your hubby was one of the fire-crew called-in?

No, the airport have their own fire crew plus his station would only be third in line to be called after that

A bloke I know is a helicopter paramedic - he has some horror stories to tell and I bet your hubby does too.

When Christof starts telling his gruesome stuff, I just end-up with with fingers in ears shouting "lalalalala, don't tell me"

Plane crash is awful Naimh. Sorry to hear of it.

They are saying its a Sub Spanish Crew
maybe they thought that plane had the Gear that other planes have.

Why they did it - to get Paid

The smallest commercial plane I've been on was a twin turbo prop for some short hops between regional airports.............but they were fully staffed each time.

On the BBC News they were criticising this Manx airline that the pilot had to do everything from loading the luggage to doing the safety demonstration.

Sign o the times to save money I suppose arista.

I was in the canteen in uni when the news flash interrupted my usual ritual of sitting down, watching Jezza and eating pizza.

Thank you, taxpayers.

Shocking stuff, happening in a wee little airport for a gossip ridden city. It was like our own mini 9/11.
