Her airplay is not great, it's picked up in the last week thanks to the VMAs but nowhere near where it needs to be to get number one. It will be in the top 5.

While many young singers are obsessed with staying slim there is one star that makes no apology for her fuller figure.
And in a revealing interview singing sensation Adele says she is happy just the way she is and her voluptuous shape has never been an issue.
Speaking to Vogue the 23-year-old who also posed for a series of stunning portraits said: ‘I enjoy being me; I always have done.’
‘I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, you know, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears them down. And I just don’t want that in my life.’
And it seems the people she surrounds herself with ensure she maintains a positive self-image.
She explained: ‘It’s just never been an issue – at least, I’ve never hung out with the sort of horrible people who make it an issue. I have insecurities of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.'
Adele, who was forced to cancel the first two dates of her U.K. tour yesterday because of a severe cold and chest infection, has also revealed why you won’t see her as the face of a brand anytime soon, no matter how high the offer is.
She told the magazine: ‘I don’t want to see me plastered everywhere, before adding ‘If they offered me £10million, I’d be like ******* off. Besides if I was going to be the face of anything it should be the face of full-fat coke.’
Adele’s star just keeps on rising her second album 21 has sold over 3.5million copies and broke the solo female artist record for staying at number one for eleven weeks.
But while she is currently in higher demand than ever the singer has been forced to cancel the first two dates of her U.K. tour because of ill health.
In a blog post to her website she explained: ‘im as useless as a slug right now, ive had a rotten cold,’ before adding: ‘id rather not do a show, then not do a good one for you. (sic)
Nice to see some stars not whoring themselves out to advertisers just to make even more money they don't need.

From Music Week
10 million sales
Adele’s 21 has underlined its status as one of the most successful albums this century after selling its 10-millionth copy this week.
The album, by far and away 2011’s top seller worldwide, has taken little more than seven months since release to break the 10 million mark and looks likely to reach 13 million sales by the end of the year.
At a time when even the biggest albums globally struggle to sell more than 5 million copies in a calendar year, the XL album’s performance has been remarkable. And the story does not end there with 21 on course to reach 3 million UK sales this week in record-breaking time.
“It’s just phenomenal,” said her manager Jonathan Dickins. “We knew we had a good record and privately we had some targets, but you can’t legislate for this.”
“We’ve taken the whole thing very much one step at a time, but no one could have anticipated this,” added XL Recordings managing director Ben Beardsworth, who noted the album was this week enjoying one of its best weeks in a number of territories, including the US where 21’s sales were expected to rise week-on-week by around 70% following Adele’s MTV VMAs performance of Someone Like You.
The scale and speed of 21’s success can be put into context when lined up alongside the biggest global sellers of recent years. Eminem’s Interscope album Recovery was recognised by the IFPI as 2010’s top worldwide album having sold 5.7 million copies by year’s end and Syco artist Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream led 2009’s listings after selling around 6.0 million copies (it achieved that despite having only been released in mid-November that year).
Not since Blue Note/EMI’s Norah Jones debut Come Away With Me, which was 2003’s top global seller, has there been a release to dwarf the kind of numbers 21 has been doing.
Adele’s rapid march to 10 million has been achieved because her album became a substantial hit in almost every major music territory.
It has been number one in 19 countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany and the US, where it is the year-to-date’s top album by some distance, it sold its three-millionth copy there last month, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
It is also the first album by a British artist to reach this landmark in the States since Boyle’s debut two years ago.
Unless something extraordinary happens during the last four months of 2011, 21’s success will also mean the top-selling artist album globally will be by a British artist for the fourth time in five years following Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black (2007), Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008) and Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream (2009).
Meanwhile, in the UK 21’s sales reached 2.98 million units last week, according to the Official Charts Company, and are set to hit 3 million by the end of the week.
Sales this week were strengthened by Adele’s appearance on Jonathan Ross’s new ITV1 chat show where she performed Turning Tables. However, she had to pull out of the first two dates of her UK tour last Sunday and Monday because of illness.
Given the album firmly remains a Top 10 fixture in the UK, US and other key markets, there are likely to be plenty more sales to come before the year is up.
“The joy of an album coming out in January is we’ve had the whole year so far of great sales and we’ve still got our first Christmas to come,” said Beardsworth.
“I imagine even for a record that has sold at this volume there are going to be some great sales at Christmas.”

wow it was expected to hit 10mill by end of the year but it's got there so fast. We could even be looking at 15 million by the end of the year! :amazed: In America its going crazy with not only SLY outselling everything but also Set fire to the rain storming the itunes top 30 and racking up huge sales over recent months. It's her next smash there for sure and could send album sales into orbit. She has 3 huge hits at once there currently. On the global itunes chart all 3 of her songs are in the top 7!!
Let's have some classical music to celebrate :D

Adele made a massive 88% gain in US album sales in the wake of the VMA's. She sold a mighty 154,000. However, it still stays at no3 because of two huge new releases...Red hot chillis(224k) and Lil Wayne(964k).
Big week for album sales on Billboard.

Her airplay is not great, it's picked up in the last week thanks to the VMAs but nowhere near where it needs to be to get number one. It will be in the top 5.
Following an acclaimed performance of the song on the MTV Video Music Awards Aug. 28, Adele's stark ballad "Someone Like You" bounds to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, vaulting 19-1 with dual Digital and Airplay Gainer honors.
"Like" leaps 11-1 on Digital Songs with 275,000 downloads sold (up 191%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. On Radio Songs, the track blasts 42-19 with 46 million all-format audience impressions (up 59%), according to Nielsen BDS.
The honors continue to pour in for Adele, as "Like" is her second Hot 100 No. 1, after "Rolling in the Deep" spent seven weeks at the summit beginning in May.
"Deep," which won Adele three trophies at the VMAs, and "Like" appear on the singer/songwriter's sophomore album "21," which, with 3.3 million copies sold in the U.S. since its February release, ranks as 2011's top-selling set.
Similar to "Deep," "Like" is receiving multi-format radio support, lifting into the top 10 on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart (12-10), while advancing 6-5 on Triple A; 18-16 on Adult Contemporary; and, 24-19 on Pop Songs.

and its looking like Someone like you is set to leap from no19 to no1 on the US billboard chart this week on the back of the VMA's! Unstoppable.
I know all about the sales/airplay rules and have checked my facts. She is ahead on sales and seems to be getting the radio play needed too. The predictions are that she will be numero uno ahead of Maroon5.
This is the prediction based on Sales/airplay (Billboard hot 100)
1. Someone Like You (273 + 46 = 319)
2. Moves Like Jagger (200 + 90 = 290)
3. Pumped Up Kicks (213 + 73 = 284)
4. Party Rock Anthem (134 + 120 + 5 = 259)
5. Super Bass (102 + 117 = 219)
6. Yoü And I (176 + 43 = 219)
7. How To Love (114 + 101 = 215)
8. Lighters (97 + 106 = 203)
9. You Make Me Feel (155 + 47 = 202)
10. Cheers (142 + 58 = 200)
11. Give Me Everything (78 + 102 + 10 = 190)
12. Stereo Hearts (138 + 52 = 190)
13. Last Friday Night (61 + 124 = 185)
14. I Wanna Go (69 + 100 = 169)
15. Rolling In The Deep (80 + 76 = 156)
That article was posted today, you hardly knew what her airplay was like prior to that.
well of course it had to be confirmed today. But all the strong indications were there and I even posted the most respected prediction chart around. Which was spot on as it happens.

Adele is on course to sell over 13 million copies of her latest album 21 by Christmas.
The record is estimated to reach the impressive milestone by December after tipping the 10 million sales mark earlier this week, seven months after its release.
The singer's manager, Jonathan Dickins, told Music Week: "It's just phenomenal. We knew we had a good record and privately we had some targets, but you can't legislate for this.
"We've taken the whole thing very much one step at a time, but no-one could have anticipated this."
Adele's total dwarfs best sellers from recent years, including Eminem's Recovery in 2010, which sold 5.7 million copies, and Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream in 2009, which sold 6 million units.
The feat makes her the fourth British artist in five years to be awarded the top global selling album, after Boyle, Coldplay's Viva La Vida in 2008 and Amy Winehouse's Black to Black in 2007.
21 currently sits at number two in the UK after 33 weeks in the top five, and is expected to hit the three million sales mark following her appearance on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show.
Adele's 'Someone Like You' topped the Billboard singles chart earlier this week following a well-received performance at the MTV VMAs.

Adele has been forced to cancel a further two dates on her troubled UK tour due to illness.
The 'Set Fire To The Rain' singer previously axed gigs in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Cardiff and Blackpool due to her struggle with bronchitis.
The 21 musician has now announced on her official website today that her weekend shows at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall have also been cancelled.
"It is with regret that due to continuing problems with a serious cold and chest infection, Adele has had to postpone her shows this weekend in Wolverhampton," the post read. "Her doctors have insisted she recovers fully before returning to the tour."
The message confirmed that cancelled concerts will be "rescheduled at the earliest opportunity", with all tickets for the Saturday and Sunday dates being accepted. Guests unable to make the new shows will be eligible for a refund.

Interesting that Adele's SLY is the first unquestionably slow ballad to hit No1 in US since Rihanna's Take a bow...in May 2008! Which makes it even more of an achievement along with the fact its from such a huge selling album.
21 sold 354k last week worldwide to reach 10.2 million total. At this rate it could do 15 million in 2011. That would be astonishing if it happened. :amazed:

Guys, im heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again im experiencing problems with my voice. its ridiculous i know! i cant believe it myself. i follow all the advice im given and stick to regimes, rules and practices to the best of my ability but it seems to simply not be enough. i want you to know the full story about my voice troubles so bare with me in this long blog. i first started having trouble with my voice back in january, it was weakened by a bout of flu from december and never got its complete strength back before i started my UK and European promotional tour, so it just got weaker and weaker until it eventually “broke” as i say. i didnt realise at the time, cause id never had anything wrong with my voice, ever. but id also never sung as much as i was at the time it went. i was diagnosed with laryngitis and ordered to rest intensely for 10 days, and i recovered and went on to do a show in london and a month long promo tour in the U.S and also the brit awards without any hiccups. the whole time i stuck to a strict regime of numerous diets, steaming, vocal rest and vocal warm ups. which is very necessary but insanely grim. After a bit of time off I embarked on my european and UK tours at the end of march and finished at the end of april and everything seemed fine.
in may i went on tour in the U.S, i was in minneapolis which was about half way through the tour. i made a skype call in the morning on the day of the show and during it my voice suddenly switched off like a light! it was literally as if someone pulled a curtain over my throat. i knew something was wrong and panicked but convinced myself id be fine. i got to soundcheck and knew immediately i couldnt perform and with doctors advice cancelled the show. i was mortified and distraught but stubbornly insisted we go to denver for the following day, i did the show even though in the back of mind i knew it wasnt the right thing to do. and during it i felt, what i can only describe as something ripping in my throat. but adrenalin kicked in and i was too embarrassed to not finish the show. I was sent to LA to rest and get another opinion. this time i was diagnosed with a hemorrhage. which is like a black eye on the vocal chord, it was incredibly tender and dangerous if i was to continue to sing through it. i was ordered to rest, so i flew home and did for a month. then slowly i started fulfilling my commitments. i did a show in london at the itunes festival and then went on to complete the first leg of the rescheduled US shows and perform at the VMAS which were all a blinding success.
however when i got home and prepared to start my UK tour in september i developed a respiratory and chest infection which had nothing to do with any of my voice problems from before but still forced me to cancel 6 shows and a performance at the mercury awards. i was stuffed full of antibiotics, had some time to rest and in the end managed to do 9 shows of the 15. After them and once back home my voice yet again went. mid conversation and it just switched off! i have a hemorrhage again and it is paramount that i rest and therefore wont be able to come and do these already rescheduled U.S shows which are due to start this friday in atlantic city.
the fact is i have never been able to fully recover from any of the problems that ive had and then continue to rest even once im recovered, because of my touring commitments. ive been offered the chance to not tour at all to save anything like this from happening again, but i simply hate letting you down. although now im having to let you down once again through no fault of my own really. if i continue to pick up everything before i have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud. i will be totally and utterly ****ed. singing is literally my life, its my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or i risk damaging my voice forever. i have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously i take it and how truly devastated and annoyed i am by this. wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as im sure you know! my voice is weak and i need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab as soon as, and start building my over all stamina in my voice, body and mind. i will be back and im gonna smash the ball out the park once im touring again. i apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely i do. i know its not only disappointing because of the show, but its plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. but please have faith in me that this is the only thing i can do to make sure i can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability. truly yours and yours only forever, adele xx

Adele sold a further 303k copies of 21 last week and returned to the no1 spot on the worldwide album charts for an astonishing 37th week.
This takes her official total to 19,976,000....just 24k from the 20 million mark. But it will have sold that easily since this tally so it has unofficially passed that landmark by now.
Again, again and again... in its 60th week on the tally Adele's '21' returns to the top spot of the Global Album Chart for the umpteenth time. Now the album leads a 37th week, sold another 303.000 copies and it will break the 20 million border next week. In history only one album might have a chance for a longer stay at no.1: Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. Unfortunately our ALBUM CHART ARCHIVE dates only back to the year 2004.
Her 21 album is also no6 best seller of all time in the UK and set to pass MJs Thriller within a couple of months. Plus its just 1.6 million from reaching Diamond status in the US(10 million).
Just to show how she is STILL dominating globally...here's her albums current itunes update:

With 4.7 million sales already this year(before end of march!) she is well on course to be the years biggest seller yet again. Using last year as a yard stick; Last years 2nd biggest seller was Lady Gaga with 5.4 million. She should pass that figure within 3 weeks.

Adele's '21' Heading Back to No. 1 for 24th Week
Adele's titanic-selling "21" album is looking likely to return to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for a 24th nonconsecutive week. While it's too early to tell just how much it will sell by week's end on Sunday, April 15, a figure in the range of 110,000 to 130,000 is possible.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, April 18.
If "21" returns to the top, it will mark the longest reign at No. 1 since Prince and the Revolution's "Purple Rain" soundtrack also spent 24 frames at the top in 1984 and 1985. Additionally, "21" would become one of only eight albums to rack six months atop the list.
"21" has now sold 8.64 million copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan and ranks as the 33rd biggest seller since the company began tracking sales in 1991. The largest-selling album in the SoundScan era is Metallica's "Metallica," released in 1991, which has moved 15.77 million.

Adele is celebrating a 23rd week at the top of the UK album chart with her record-breaking LP 21.
The singer, who returned to the top spot last week, outsold Jason Mraz's Love is a Four Letter Word by just 44 copies in her 65th week in the album chart.
Mraz's fourth studio album debuted at number two, after leading the pack with a 2,000-copy advantage during the week.
Adele's latest achievement surpasses the chart record of Eminem, who spent 23 weeks across his six-album career in the top spot. The British vocalist has now spent a total of 24 weeks at number one, with both 21 and her debut 19.
Former number one Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded by Nicki Minaj fell one spot to number three, while Lana Del Rey's Born to Die climbed two places to number four.
Jessie J's Who You Are completed the top five, after slipping one place from last week.
Train enter the chart at number ten with California 37, while Spiritualized's latest album Sweet Heart Sweet Light reached number 19 in its first week.

Adele has returned to the top of the US album chart.
The singer's multi-million-selling album 21 spends a 24th non-consecutive week atop the US Billboard 200 chart.

The record managed to sell 74,029 copies over the past seven days, despite being released in the United States back in February 2011, according to Hits Daily Double.
The 27% increase in sales follows Adele's NBC special, which included an interview with the star and clips from her Live At The Royal Albert Hall DVD.
21 is thought to have surpassed sales of 22 million worldwide since its UK release in January 2011.
The collection has been certified 16 times platinum in the UK, nine times platinum in the US, 13 times platinum in Australia and diamond in Canada.
The US chart feat comes in the same week Adele's 21 fell out of the UK Top 10 for the first time.

With a hefty lead, 21 could become the first album to top the end of year chart twice in a row in the SoundScan era.
Meanwhile, Lionel Richie is at two with Tuskegee selling 912,000 copies, while One Direction are at three with Up All Night which has tallied up sales of 899,000 units, according to Billboard.

Adele's 21 Drops Out Of Billboard Top 10
As record-setting album ends its 78-week streak in the Top 10, we look back at its remarkable run, by the numbers.
After 546 days — and more than 9.7 million albums sold — Adele's unstoppable 21 will do the unthinkable on next week's Billboard albums chart: drop outside the Top 10.
Yes, according to Nielsen SoundScan, 21 will fall to #12 next week, marking its lowest chart position since debuting at #1 in early March 2011 (its previous low was #9 back in July). It brings to a close a record-setting run for the album, which had already logged more weeks in the Top 10 than any other album by a female artist, and had racked up an astonishing 24 weeks at #1, the sixth-most in the chart's history.
On the one-year anniversary of its debut on the chart, we commemorated 21's achievements (at the time, it had spent 40 percent of the year at #1, and had sold more copies than Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, Lady Gaga's Born This Way, Rihanna's Talk That Talk and Beyoncé's <4> ... combined), so, now that it's finally fallen into the chart's double digits, we figured we should also take a look back at some of the highlights from its 78-week run in the Top 10, by the numbers.
2: Number of albums that have spent a longer time in the Top 10 than 21, according to SoundScan. Those albums? Bruce Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A. (84 weeks) and "The Sound of Music" soundtrack (109 weeks).
20: Number of consecutive weeks 21 sold more than 100,000 copies, from September 4, 2011 to January 15, 2012. It dipped to (only) 95,000 copies the following week, then reeled off a stretch of an additional 11 weeks of six-digit sales, highlighted by a record-setting post-Grammy haul of nearly 730,000 albums sold.
45: Number of other albums that have held the #1 spot on the Billboard chart during 21's run in the Top 10.
68: Weeks after its release that 21 managed to grab the #1 spot on the chart, the 24th time it accomplished the feat. Over the course of its 78 weeks in the Top 10, 21 has also had runs of five and 10 consecutive weeks at #1.
24,002: Number of copies 21 sold this week, its lowest figure since being released. Of course, that number is only 20,000 less than Cake's Showroom of Compassion, which holds the record for lowest-selling record to open at #1 in the Nielsen SoundScan era.
3,900,000: Number of copies 21 has sold in 2012, to date.
5,800,000: Number of copies 21 sold in 2011.
430,000,000: Total number of all albums sold in 2011 and 2012 ... 23 percent of which have been copies of 21.

Amazing feat. Would not say it was a fantastic track but it's still pretty good. I think maybe though we have come to expect a lot from her (myself included) due to her excellent previous work. I think she could warble over someone banging on pots and pans though and some people would buy it. Anything will sell with her name attached to it. She has become a brand in her own right. Well done to her. I am sure her record company will be celebrating tonight.

Adele's second studio album 21 has reached sales of 10 million units in the US.
The singer's global smash achieved the feat during its 92nd week of release, and is one of eight albums to reach the milestone within two years.
Overall, 21 is the 21st album to reach 10 million sales in the US since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991, according to Billboard.
The album sold more than 28,000 copies over the past week in America, meaning its current total sales stands at 10,020,000.
To date, the highest-selling album in the US - according to SoundScan's data - is Metallica's self-titled 1991 release, which has shifted 15.8 million copies.
Adele slipped to 35 on the US Billboard 200 chart this week with 21, while in the UK it falls to 42, marking the first time it has charted outside the Top 40 since its release in January 2011.
What an achievement....

Watched the entire Oscars this year, because ...I have no idea, bored? She was great, but I felt the music was much louder than it needed to be. Her voice is the finest instrument to that orchestra, and her microphone should have been louder. Perturbed, but then she won a short while later, and that all went away.
Exactly what I thought SharkAttack

Would take everything with a pinch of salt, I think she's just enjoying being a mum, the press just publish stories to make it sound like it's coming soon
