Emmerdale favourite Aaron Livesy will help his lover Jackson Walsh to die in an assisted suicide storyline later this year, a report has claimed.

According to The Sun, a hard-hitting plot on the ITV1 soap will see Jackson ask Aaron (Danny Miller) and mum Hazel (Pauline Quirke) to help end his life following his recent struggle to cope with his paralysis.

It is thought that Aaron and Hazel will eventually comply with their loved one's request and crush lethal tablets into a drink for him.

Jackson - played by 22-year-old Marc Silcock - was left seriously injured in a train accident last year, which led to him losing the use of his limbs. Since then, he has found it difficult to adjust to the tragic change in his life - in particular being so reliant on other people.

A show source told the newspaper: "Jackson will start discussing plans to end his life in the next few weeks. His resolve to see it through will strengthen, which will lead to many rows and emotional scenes.

"Throughout the plot, there will be a phone number on screen for a helpline for anyone affected."

Responding to the report, an Emmerdale spokesperson told DS this morning: "We do not confirm or deny speculation about future storylines."

Jackson made his Emmerdale debut in March 2010 and his on-off relationship with Aaron has built up a devoted following among viewers. Next week, fans will see the pair reunite following their recent split.

That will be a very good storyline.
I dont watch Emmerdale much, only if mum wants it on but from what Ive seen Jackson is a strong character so it will be a loss to the show.. but the impact of the storyline will be big.

I saw this coming from miles off lol, it's a shame because Jackson was a brilliant character at first

Sad, but in all honesty I think I'd want to die too. What life is that? :(

I thought it would happen too though had an awful niggling feeling they were going to give him some kind of miraculous recovery. At least upper body

I hope they plan it carefully and research it well, its a very sensitive and contoversial subject.

I have to say that in real life if what had happened to Jackson happened to me then as long as I was able to communicate then I would not see ending my life an option,in a coma with no likelihood of talking or any movement again then that may be very different.

As I say I hope they research it thoroughly and not treat it like an everyday event.

The character of Jackson died last year, in the train crash, since then he's just been a plot device, a very depressing one

I'd be an absolute nightmare. As an able bodied person I hate letting people help me. Too stubborn and independant. I'd go absolutely stir crazy in that position :(

To think, I was dreading Hazel joining. Now I hope she doesn't leave :/

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say I think Aaron will go to jail for him (confess)

They should axe the Aaron bloke too. Sick of hearing about how much he deserves an award for snotting all over his jumpers or tearing up at the slightest little thing.

Agreed, it's like the producers sit in a room and think of ways to make him cry, to think he used to be a hard chav when he first arrived

He still is chavvy. Everytime I watch it he's wearing his socks pulled over his tracksuit. lol

Anyway, that's my big problem with soap gay storylines. There's never a gay person brought in as just another character, portrayed as a normal person with no stereotype. And they always choose a character who's been in the show for years and never shown an interest in the same sex.
Not to mention they always fall in love with the first person they meet (or with their best friend, who just so happens to be coming out of the closet too).

This is hardly shocking. Emmerdale fans have seen this coming from a mile off but I am looking forward to it. That sounds bad but I wasn't a fan of EastEnders at the time when they showed Ethel's assisted suicide storyline so have never seen it played out on a soap opera before. Will be sad stuff but I'm sure Emmerdale will pull out all the stops to make sure it's not insensitive in any way. I also hope Hazel stays, will be difficult for her to cope though without her son. Good on Emmerdale though for doing this, they never get enough recognition.

This is simply an utter disgrace. Emmerdale is a family programme watched by young kids so this storyline just isn't on. There's going to be loads of people complaining to ofcom about this and I don't blame them.

Of course they have done this storyline before, with Sam and his wife Alice who was dying with Cancer, he gave her more of the drugs than he should have. Its just although Jackson will never walk again, he can talk, he can think,al the mental faculties remain.
For me some of the worst illnesses to have is when you lose the ability to communicate.

You could tell that they were going to either kill him off in suicide or have some kind of miraculous recovery where he gets feeling again and so can begin to walk, so this isn't surprising. There must be repercussions for this one though because theres no way Jackson could take the drug himself, so investigators are going to know someone gave it to him

I dread to think of the complaints this will bring in, that's all people seem to do these days!

I wouldn't let my kids watch Emmerdale or any other soap, because they regularly fling this sensationalist rubbish at us. Assisted suicide is the subject matter of documentaries or serious debate - as is post-natal depression. When did soap operas get elevated to the status of half-arsed social commentary? It drives me nuts. I don't watch a huge amount of TV but I do like to catch up on the soaps every now and again. I have to wade through the stomach churning and heart lurching for the humour and human interaction I'm looking for and find it increasingly difficult to find any. Oh for the days of a simple old love triangle.............

I take it you're joking........

Why would you ask that? Do you have kids? Do you think this is a suitable subject matter to have on one of the main terrestrial channels at 7pm EVERY NIGHT?

Yep. Because they're lazy barstewards and couldn't be bothered coming up with regular storylines for someone with a severe disability. So they have the drama of the crash and the do-do-DOOO moment when he's told he's paralysed and then it's - SHOITE, what do we do now?
Nonsense.

I think Emmerdale will do a great job with this but I find Jackson a complete dullard now so don't particularly care anymore even if I used to like him, as for Aaron I do hope he confesses because he is seriously over exposed now and just tedious IMO:sleep:.
