Rangers have had a bid for South African international Siphiwe Tshabalala rejected by Kaizer Chiefs, according to the African media.

The Scottish champions are believed to have made a £100,000 bid for the attacker, a fee described as an insult by the player’s agent.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Tshabalala's business manager Jazzman Mahlakgane received a message from Rangers late on Wednesday afternoon that the deal was off.

"I got an SMS now saying the Rangers deal is off," revealed Mahlakgane.

"I spoke to Bobby (Motaung) yesterday about it as they (Rangers) were texting me about it and they were saying can they have the player on loan and all sorts of things. They were offering £100,000... it is an insult."

A source close to the deal also claimed that the wages on offer would have proved a stumbling block in any deal adding: “Not only was the offer to Kaizer Chiefs far too low, but the player was going to earn peanuts".

The player scored the opening goal of the 2010 World Cup for the hosts against Mexico in the match which finished 1-1.

The 26-year-old has 99 caps for his country and was subject to a bid from Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Ittihad earlier this summer.

Maybe Benayoun is the kind of player he should try and sign in the future. Instead of these young guns who have a couple of decent seasons then catch the eye of the big spending clubs he should concentrate on older squad players.

Liverpool have revealed that a bid of £5 million was turned down for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic, as the transfer period closed last night, according to The Sun.

Jelavic has starred for Rangers since the 26-year-old moved to the Scottish outfit last summer, scoring 18 goals in 28 appearances. As a result, he has received attention from numerous European clubs.

Liverpool in particular were connected to the star, and particularly after Kenny Dalglish was resigned to losing David Ngog, Raul Meireles and Joe Cole, the manager was on the lookout for more support up front.

After Liverpool made a bid in the vicinity of £5 million for Jelavic, Leicester reportedly outbit them with a £6.5 million offer, and an ‘unnamed club’ put in a £9 million bid just hours before the end of the window.

Dalglish still got a forward for the Liverpool line up, signing up Craig Bellamy during the day. Bellamy returns to Merseyside after spending a year at the club in 2006-07.

I think Wenger is targeting the title but, with those signings, i'm not so sure.

Chelsea were in need of a creative midfielder, yet were willing to let Benayoun go. That sums him up.
Arteta is a good player, but he's a bit injury prone.

Overall, Cesc and Nasri haven't been replaced at all well imo.
