It's becoming beyond a joke. Absolute nonsense.

P.S.

Eva isn't gay and from the look of upcoming spoilers, neither is Amber, it was tabloid trash

as long as the characters are interesting I don't see what your problem is?

I wonder what the reason for them being wound up actually is?

Not quite sure myself lol, it's not as if them being gay is the whole point of the character lol

lol, I did hear someone say once that it's unrealistic to have so many gays, I had to laugh at this, yeah, 6 gays on one street is unbelievable, John Stape story however...................yeah...........could happen:joker:

Haha true, it's a soap, why are they complaining about realism? xD

So what, do you have something against gays?

Can't see the massive problem here.

I see your point, but focusing on one particular storyline is ridiculous.

And people moan about EastEnders being unrealistic.

Y'all need to stop misspelling it, it's :trolleys: not rolleyes. :trolleys:

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as they're entertaining.

what do you mean by focusing on one particular storyline? The only actual "being gay and coming out" storyline was Sian and Sophies and Todds but that was ages ago

Ah, fair enough. I thought they were going to start another "coming out" storyline. Having gays is a good representation of real life, but the "coming out" storylines was what I was annoyed about. It's just like having too many affairs or murders. :)

Neither do I, there is room for all in soapland as in real life too. People are people, we should just accept them as they are and look beyond their sexuality, why not say there are possibly too many heterosexual people in soaps etc, and some pretty bad examples of them too as there are with gay characters.

Yes, because six gays on one street is totally realistic.

Firstly it's Corrie, how many trains/trams fly off a viaduct? How many streets have a hammer murder spree? How many streets have a death/birth/affair/fire/etc every few weeks?

Clearly that is realistic isn't it? :bored:

Secondly how do you know how many homosexuals and lesbians live on one street? Do you go around and count them? In my house alone there are 3 of us, so it is more than likely realistic that 6 can live on one street.

Thirdly, why does it bother you, or do you just enjoy trolling...?

Don't you dare bring that up again! So how am I trying to "troll"? This is a forum, and I am perfectly entitled to my own opinion, and, if you don't like what I have to say, go and read something else. Just when I'm starting to like this forum, I'm accused of being a troll again!

Male. Sophie and Sian are fit. Anyway, I'm not going to say any more regarding this topic. I'll probably end up banned - again.

No you do not need a ban.

But the Amount of gays
could be due to them being Funny
or getting things wrong.

Ideal for complex Story lines.

It's not that long ago that you would have one lonely and sad gay and a few (straight) sympathetic/patronising friends. Having an Equal Opportunity attitude means more than having a 'token gay' in it.

Would you say there are too many blacks or asians in a soap? No, because that would be seen as racist.

That's a good point, having alot of gay characters in the soap, takes the spot light off the fact that they're gay and they don't stand out as being different because of it, they can have other storylines beside the fact that they're gay and I think it's a great way of taking the one dimensional view off gay characters, the fact that they're gay becomes less significant and they can actually have a proper personality/character. I think it's a great step forward and will help to stop the homophobic attitudes that older generations grew up with.

That's exactly what the guy who produces Midsomer Murders said, and most of the people who commented on it here (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173084) on this forum defended it

But besides it's a different situation, not employing someone because they're black is racist, not employing someone because they're gay is homophobic, but it would not be homophobic to not make a character gay. They're manufactured, they're fictionalised, if the characters are gay then that is the concious choice of the producer, unlike if an actor is gay, or if an actors black

There are more than a dozen gays on my street! Two in my house & next door but one a pair of lesbians alone, so quite realistic in an urban street actually...

Do you live somewhere out in the sticks or something? As you may get less gays there (we like fabulous cities) probably only one per village... ;)
