has anyone had any experience with the audition process in the past? or know anyone that does?
i had to go to some hotel in London on a day which was during monday-friday last week (i wont be specific because im not leaving any traces!) and have some unrecorded, apparantly "not an audition" psychiatric discussions about all things me and my past last wednesday.
considering after the final group workshop stage a week earlier i got phone called not two hours after leaving, im naturally a little paranoid that it has been almost a week.
the more rational side of me tells me that the psyche tests only started this week anyway so its less likely to receive instant updates and i was probably a bit naive to expect it.
anyway the point is, anyone know how long you have to wait post psyche test for any further updates?
i honestly did try to not get so emotionally invested in this, but its insidious. it clawed its way in and ate me alive.

That's pretty much all the formalised stages done, so there's not much of a standard answer for what happens next (especially as it varies year-on-year; BB11's final 81 all had to make videos, while AFAIK the BB10 finallists had home visits/interviews as usual).
Like they said, the psych thing isn't for audition purposes; it's just a sign you've made it to the top third-or-so of the London callbacks and they want to make sure you'll be fit for the show if they choose you in their ideal cast. There's more phone interviews to go if they're really interested, but you won't know for sure until you get asked to go into hiding!
Good luck - but if you're this nervous just in the audition stage, just imagine how hard it'll be in the house!

They need to make such the end of the process, that they have it right and please don't have any freaks.

thanks thats quite helpful. wow, top third. thats quite scary especially given how quickly i was called back after the final audition. i mean its not like they even waited out the rest of the week.
its not that im as much nervous as i am anxious. i only really applied casually, and going back to more auditions really was a case of "how deep does the rabbit hole go".
both the psyches told me they were "completely thrown" by me. as, in the words of one "you arent the type of person that usually applies for this process and that is probably why you are sat in front of me right now".
my motive for doing the show was diagnosed by one as a "thrillseeker" and the other a "fantasist". both of them said im certainly not a "fame chaser".
the attention and the conspiratorial secrecy of the whole thing is sublime though. its enough to turn anyone into one of the masses!

Top third is still anything from 30-50 people, usually (not sure if there were 100 or 150 people at the callbacks this year, as it varies); quite an achievement, but still a few more hurdles to pass.
Not that I've ever been on the show myself, but I can imagine it's quite a let down to go from the thrills of the audition process & build-up of going into hiding before being stuck in a house with a bunch of dullards with nothing to do 24/7!
If they tell the producers you're an atypical housemate, it could go either way, depending on how they phrase it - if they think you'll walk once the novelty wears off, it might count against you; otherwise, it's a huge plus.

i small talked a few of the low level endemol runners and even the psyches (for the record, never try and play mind games on a psychiatrist.) did a bit of maths and managed to get a rough figure of about 40 people left so that sort of tallies!
when being collected from my secret location, the runner who picked me up told me she recognized me from my first audition. i said "oh yeah you were operating the camera werent you" and she siad "yeah".
i then asked the job of the fellow who was interviewing me during the first audition, who also happened to be the man behind the mirror who also gave us the talk of doom at the final group stage. She said he's the #2 guy of the whole creative process, only one guy above him.
its sufficiently encouraging to hear that the #2 guy of the whole process was the one in all your auditions giving you a yes. especially considering how fast i was called back the last time!
i also had a call the day before my psyche asking me to clarify some details so they can request my medical records.
i read somewhere thats a tell tale sign your going in?
can you tell im reading way too deep into this and that i should just relax :)

All I know about the audition process is what I've read / watched as a fan. So unfortunately I cannot give you any real advice. However I just wanted to post and congratulate you on getting this far and wish you luck for the future.
Would love to be able to support you (should you make it on the show), but obviously wouldn't know who you are - and of course I would never wish for you to jeopardise your chances by telling.
All the best.

It's a positive sign but even the producers don't know who's going in yet! Even if you go into hiding you may not go on the show (there's usually a few reserves and some people get switched around up to the last second - Science wasn't supposed to be in BB6 until someone dropped out last minute).
Best to just enjoy the process and make sure getting the show is what you really want to do instead getting swept up in the drama of the auditions :)

I like the sound of you someguy!!
I really hope you go in. Keep your identity hush hush. DO NOT TELL ANYONE.
I think you will cope fine in the house. I think people get nervous and anxious in the auditions maybe because they are so close? and yet so far. Be horrible if you spent a lot of time going back and forth to London for further interviews then right at the end told a "no".
But I like you someguy! Good luck, stay strong and keep in there!! :D

Love muscle Russel? Maybe. Maybe someone even better. I like the sound of him anyway. He seems promising.
However I am upset that someone who I know who got to the DR room stage hasn't had a call back for further auditions :nono:
And I know this person would have been really good. Ahh well. BB's LOSS!

i went to the group auditions this year the week before last week and have heard nothing since. does that mean I have not got any further?
I rung up last week and they still want me to send my forms back, any thoughts?

26-07-2011, 11:37 AM
Hi roo, I was called literally about 2 hours afterwards, so it's not looking likely for yourself I'm afraid. They've been doing the next stage all last week an this week. They MAY still call you if they aren't happy with the group theyve already progressed, that's why they want everyone to send back the signed talk of doom, but if you havnt heard anything yet I'd say it's about 99.9% certain you're out. Sorry :(
im just a little annoyed as I thought I did really well and i have interesting back story. I also have a disability and I cant help thinking this is why!
I read somewhere about the gold ticket holders audition last wednesday as well, so did they get fast tracked to the phys stage!
i auditioned right at the end of the group auditions on the last day so i thought they wouldnt ring me straight after.
so did they ring you after you left, in the evening then, and they asked you to go back last wednesday?
someguy
26-07-2011, 11:44 AM
Well it was around 5ish, and they asked me what day next week was best for me I said Wednesday.
That's interesting you thought you did well, I thought I did horrible and was completely thrown when they rang me so soon.
Just out of curiosity, what day was your audition? We may have been in the same group!
i went on friday, but we didnt finish till 5.30, did you have a morning audition?
how long did the phys test last? 2 hours?
also, i rang up about sending in the police check as i received it through the post and i said do i need to send it in, she then she said, can i ring you back, which she did and then she asked me to send it in, i got my hopes up when she said can i ring you back!
someguy
26-07-2011, 11:53 AM
Lunch time. We finished up at about 3.15.
Psyche sessions were 2 hours yes.
That's interesting then, I know they did 3 sessions a day all week. Possibly with the exception of Monday. So that's 120-150 people in the final audition, with the top third reaching the psyches. Which makes the final shortlist 40-50.
OMG I'm close :S
i got told they did auditions on the monday as well, i thought it was one morning sesh and one after noon sesh, as we started at 2.30 and they would have had lunch, so dont leave much time in the day for three!
well someguy, i wish you well! please let me know what happens, if you get on big brother then you will have to come back on here afterwards and tell me who u were! all the best!
someguy
26-07-2011, 12:09 PM
Well I was in a lunchtime session, so I can assure you there were 3 a day.
oh and just for some comfort, i knew someone in a previous series and they went to the phys stage but didnt get told they were in bb till 3 weeks before the show started! they had 5 days to pack and then they went to belgium and went into hiding!
someguy
26-07-2011, 12:35 PM
Thanks, to be perfectly honest i wouldn't be bothered if I wasn't asked to go on. I've made it the entire way through the auditions, which has been a great adventure! Getting into the house would be another adventure but we will see.

Well I was in a lunchtime session, so I can assure you there were 3 a day.
Yeah, there was a morning session, mid-morning and afternoon, each session about 3 hours each.
i.e. 150 people in the London callback stages, like in BB9. Probably max 50 at the psychologist/psychiatrist, based on previous years (unless they've increased it - I don't know as much about BB11, but they must have had all 81 go through the psych stage, but I can't believe they've done so many this year).
oh and just for some comfort, i knew someone in a previous series and they went to the phys stage but didnt get told they were in bb till 3 weeks before the show started! they had 5 days to pack and then they went to belgium and went into hiding!
Which series? I've never heard of applicants getting no contact after the psych stage if they've gotten on - though I know some people only got phone interviews as opposed to in person visits (I think they stopped doing the "hanging out with you and your friends" thing as a standard part of the process after BB8?)
I really doubt the reason for you not getting through has anything to do with your disability though; there are lots of factors that impact what they are looking for in the dynamic of the house. Look at how many brilliant housemates appeared to be in the line-up for BB11, but we ended up with some of the seemingly meh ones like Rachel or Jo or Laura.

Hi,
I had a callback not last Wednesday but Wednesday.
My experience is nothing like what anybody else has commented.
I am a bit confused because my "stage" as it were, had nothing to do with group tasks or anything, I was taken to the end of a corridor where I was told I would be interviewed by someone I knew. I took this as a test and was like "well no1 knows I'm here........" but they said it wouldn't be someone I know personally but I would know who he was.
I was then taken into a room and had a filmed interview with three producers, and I was interviewed by Brian Dowling.
I, probably jumped the gun, thought that maybe this meant I would go further??
So have all the psych tests ended?? I dunno I just kind of thought "ooh someone famous", who then afterwards is announced as the presenter I thought maybe it meant I might be somebody they were interested in?
Guess not ! But seems a tad weird I met him?? I guess in a way it's a bit of a relief so now I don't have my heart going everytime the phone rings ey!

... Right. In the unlikely event that you aren't talking total bollocks, the only perceivable use that situation could entail was possibly you being used as a guinea pig for a job interview for brian.
Everyone else has gone through the same tried and tested methods used in other series. What would be the point in a separate audition process for one person, involving unveiling the presenter before it's publically announced. It just doesn't make sense, so either you're talking complete rubbish or you were used as a test subject for Brian, not the other way around.
N.Fairytale
26-07-2011, 07:17 PM
Honestly, I swear I am not talking rubbish.
To hear someone else say it, that's probably what it was I probably was a test interview for him. As when I left I did think all he really did was re-ask me things I'd been asked in my final diary room interview in London and things I'd spoken about in the interview, and he had a sheet of paper with yellow bits highlighted so it more than likely is I was used as a dummy for him to test some interview skills on.
I have watched this forum as I didn't want to post anything but now I've read your thread with a few people commenting on similar experiences to you, I've realised I'm pretty much out of the running.
On a lighter note, he was incredibly nice man.
I thought afterwards "I bet he's involved in BBLB" or something similar so imagine my heart when they said he was the presenter, I thought "ooooh I'm picked, I must be" but now thinking logically it's not the case.
At least I can say I had a really good experience with every interview I did and I had fun, it's obviously just not meant to be. Good luck to the rest of you who have done the other parts though as it sounds you are right on the cusp of it !

And when I was waiting at reception at Endemol they were about 6-7 others all told to come at a specific time in the day (different times), so we probably all are going to be used in some sort of "Brian met the auditionees" segment or something!

Full of ego maniacs and fame hungry people, suprised I didn't get a callback after that if im brutally honest, I was arrogant, ruthless and arguementative won every arguement I was involved in and told people they where idiots! I only posted my message as I was just hoping someone out there may be able to shed some light on something that unfortunately I am letting take over my life as I'm a prat, or at least say they've had the same experience. But like I say this is what happened to me, whether you choose to believe it or not is completely up to yourselves. I haven't once said I believe "my thing means more" or anything like that (quite the contrary), as I'm just trying to piece together a ridiculously confusing puzzle that more than likely means nothing!
Anyway! best of luck to everyone who got to whichever stage / scenario as I'm sure it'll be an amazing ride if you are picked to become a housemate.

If you worried about getting too involved in the whole thing or worried about not getting chosen (few days after my london cb I was pretty much attatched to my phone) Just think about the people that get in the house and some of them who win, they kind of fizzle out within a few months after the end of the show and it's back to normal life. When I think about it I for one wouldn't like to taste fame and then have it taken back from me pretty much instantly!

Do you know what it is, I'm just currently craving some excitement and after everything that's happened during this process (which through the help of TheManWhoLaughs) I have realised I am certainly not going to be called again, I just thought it was a possibility until speaking to someone who has experiences of the whole audition scenario / procedure. And when your life is lacking and something seems like it may happen you can't help but get carried away in your mind.
Oh well, backpacking it is ! (At least that way I can hide from the debt easier rather than if I'm on channel 5 nightly hahahaha)

I went for a "laugh" and surprisingly just kept getting the next round the one round I thought I'd got through was the one I didn't every single other round I thought I blew it!
I was abit annoyed with the London Cb's judging people from the group stage behind the mirror is a joke without having them have a Producer interview like previous years, I could imagine alot of diamonds got overlooked during this.
I really don't think it's fair that they used you as a test dummy for brian dowlings interview technique if im brutuelly honest!

joeybruss - I'm actually a bit p'd off about it now I can't lie. So I'm assuming you're callbacks weren't in shepherds bush like mine and all the people who were there? So they actually have got quite a few peoples hopes up that would've met Brian the day I did for absoloutely no reason, because all the people that did would've thought it meant something more than it actually did.
Oh well, no point bothering myself about it to be honest, he was a lovely man and I had a laugh with him so there is a slight silver lining!

I'm not from London and didn't really have a clue where I was, a girl from my audition group (who I think has a STRONG chance of getting in) walked me back to Hammersmith station, our callback was literally about 5minutes walk from Hammersmith's.
I thought the whole process was a joke and very rushed, When I was told to meet someone outside destination X wearing Clothes B I thought It was some sort of MI5 business but when I seen my entire group standing next to two people dressed pretty much like wheres wally I knew it was a joke.
When we went to hand in our bills etc they specificially asked us not to tell eachother our names then one of the runners goes and shouts my name out lmao!!
N.Fairytale
26-07-2011, 09:06 PM
It's all so silly !
Like you say I went for a laugh, and I was surprised everytime I got through a bit more, and filled in more paperwork etc, and I honestly had the BEST experience in the diary room I had so much fun in there, so I wouldn't be surprised if I am shown on something or other as I made a complete tool of myself. And then to meet Brian and have another laugh I'm quite happy I did meet him, even if it does mean nothing, it is still nice to say I had a laugh with Brian Dowling and spoke about getting drunk with him so all is not lost.
So I don't have bad energy towards the whole thing it's just the fact that they clearly completely used me for some stupid rehearsal for him, and they don't realise (or actually they do) the crap they put on people. One of the guys waiting was talking about how he's probably going to lose his job as he called up at the last minute saying he isn't coming in which they didn't take too kindly to at his workplace. So I effing feel for that guy now, all for them to have someone test out their interview technique. I'm hoping someone else sees this and posts now because it is in a way a sigh of relief ! x

someguy
26-07-2011, 10:05 PM
my group.
a really posh guy. a guy 75% covered in tattoos, face and all. 4 really hot but really boring girls, one of which was in the final 81 from last year who was picked live outside the house. two buff guys and a quiet black girl. and me.
everyone was RELATIVELY normal if not a bit attention seeking. i was one of the few in the room NOT trying to dominate and be overly loud. it paid off obviously.
joeybruss
26-07-2011, 10:12 PM
If the guy with 75% tatoo's looked pretty much like a cross between Nightcrawler from the Xmen films and a smurf then I was sitting next to him after the Interview stage during my first auditions, seemed like a nice guy.
I had 3 Good looking fame hungry ego monster guys, 1 quiet guy who didn't really say anything at all, Big titted fake welsh girl who didn't want to be stereotyped but had her boobs pushed completely out and would do topless modeling, a gay guy who was squeeled like a little girl, 2 black girls who hated how black girls have been pacieved in the house and both would make really good contestents who would be the only two in my group that I would honestly say should have been chosen over me.
My group was full of arguements from the start, we where argueing before we even got into the room it was getting pretty heated tbh! everyone just down each others necks.
What I don't get is, one of the runners said to me after I said "I best not have traveled all the way to london for nothing" she went "that's not happeneing" then i didn't hear anything back! If there is someone who has taken my roll for my type of character in the house and are more brutal than me then it's going to be amazing!

thats the thing mate the runners dont know anything lol. its all down to the bigshots behind the mirror. the tattooed guy auditioned in manchester and i take it you did aswell? that was definitely him who you described lol.
the welsh girl sounds exactly my type. didnt find out her name did you?
i was surprised at the lack of gays and fake tits. none in my audition!
i had 2 black girls, one of which auditioned on a friday, and she was "spotted" somewhere, wouldnt say much though, one was very clever, a gay guy who was funny, a muscle guy who had a sob story, a loverly girl who seemed like a pole dancer, a dancer dude, another guy who didnt really have anything unique about him and one person pulled out last minute, and then myself, cant remember the other person!
although i havnt had a callback for the phys stage, i know that they have a trial house as well. I really wanna get on, would be such a great experience.
Does anyone think I still have a chance?

nah if you are going on you will still need to see psychiatrists. but just because you havnt been called YET doesnt mean you wont be at all, it just means you aren't first choice, which is what makes it unlikely. If the producers trawl through the notes from the psyches for all the potentials and still don't feel they can produce a complete ideal cast, they'll call up some more.
do you follow? :)

yes i understand, well im off on holiday in a few weeks so if they do ring me it better not be then cause i will be gone and wont be able to attend anything. i bet my luck this will happen!

do you know of anyone that missed the pys stage but still went on?
Calling the psych thing a "stage" is a bit misleading; it's just a necessary requirement for anyone to get on the show, like the medical or criminal checks. I've never heard of anyone going to the psychs later and getting on the show, but it could technically have happened; but from what I know, even the late entrants had their psych tests at the same time as everyone else.
Hopefully one or two of the auditionees here will have seen some future housemates and reveal more about them on launch night :D

I sent off for it ages ago. Like July 6/7?
They said it can take maximum 40 days. Well I figure if they knew they didn't want me they wouldn't bother, so I'm counting myself still in the running a week after the psyches :)

They are still getting the paperwork in for everyone (i.e. even people who haven't had psych calls are still asked to update their IDs just in case) - probably suggests that psychs haven't decided you're a total psychopath who should be ruled out at least

someguy
02-08-2011, 11:06 AM
surely not. you watch some launch nights, most of the HM's seem genuinely in awe of the house, like they are seeing it for the first time.
With this in mind, reckon they'll finish up the final list of HM's before CBB airs? I mean, if they don't, the HM's will all have seen the house in advance anyway. Having said that, 4 weeks is a long time for them to be taken into hiding.
what you reckon?

Jonty was in hiding for 4 weeks before BB8, then was sent back as being on "standby" and eventually went in regardless.
I doubt they care about them seeing the house (Aisleyne and Sam were both in the trial run for BB7 before going in the real series that year) but they won't want the housemates seeing any twist rumours. I'd assume they'll take 20-25 into hiding with a rough cast in mind then tweak it based on how CBB is received.

ElProximo

both the psyches told me they were "completely thrown" by me. as, in the words of one "you arent the type of person that usually applies for this process and that is probably why you are sat in front of me right now".
my motive for doing the show was diagnosed by one as a "thrillseeker" and the other a "fantasist". both of them said im certainly not a "fame chaser".
This would give me hope IF it turns out they use that as a reason to put you into the BB house.
It appears we are getting 5's version of 'camp summer teen party' but so many fans have been asking for people closer to your personality.
Basically the kind who genuinely wants to test themselves, experience the challenge and just see if they could take on the 'paradigm shift',
but,
not interested in the 'fame chase' or 'showing something' to audiences (or agents, bookers etc).
But I'd say this is encouraging IF it was considered a + by casting.
Sadly,
It may be they were giving you reasons why you (ultimately) will NOT be chosen.
Because, in fact, they WANT to find the ones who show up big in the 'fame seeker' category.
The phase you described is more than 'Top 1/3rd'. Its has been, in the past, as little as the last few hundred people.
then,
(based on previous seasons) they will wait a week or more (so don't be surprised at that time lapse),
and,
then they will actually do this all over again.
The second time they will, essentially, be testing you. To see if you will quit.
They may have been doing this, in part, already,
however,
the next time they will go as far to call you in and inform you that the tests show it will be too much for you. You would be better to quit.
They may even tell you the tests prove you will quit and that you (somehow secretly inside) actually DO want to quit.
You get the idea. If you DO want to carry on then you just defy them and refuse to accept quitting.
*This is going by some good sources (as in people who you have seen in the BB house) but on some previous seasons and experiences.
I'm not sure if this is really what 5 is doing this time around so just take that for what its worth.
(haven't read whole thread so maybe you already got through i don't know. I just like to type)

Hi ElProximo
Good info.. one of the therapists told me Big Brother wasnt for me. I argued against it and told her why i thought it was for me. So it may be they have already done that?
Its been two weeks to the day since my psyche evaluation. I havnt heard from them since last wednesday, they text me chasing up my police check.
If they don't call me today, i consider myself out. Two weeks is long enough to know if you want to pursue someone or not.
What do you think? :)

BB works in mysterious ways - as we don't know when people are going into hiding, I wouldn't give up fully as you've gone through all the formal stages and its much less regimented at this stage. Then again, I wouldn't let it jeopardise your holiday plans; better you guarantee yourself a great summer than risk it.
PS: Jon Tickle's interview experiences might be worth reading since he's written a lot about how the psychs told him he was nothing like the typical contestant.

I hope someguy gets on. We need people who the producers say "we have never had anyone like you before" etc..
We need a massive, diverse, group of housemates.
Fame hungry?? EVERYONE is bloody fame hungry!! I bet even a small percentage of someguy wouldn't mind a piece of the fame cake??
I don't care about all this fame ***** bull****. Someone like Josie Gibson doesn't deserve fame though. She is boring and sat on her fat arse for 11 weeks in BB11 and did NOTHING. Disgusting. I wish Corin won and rather have her plastered boobs in my face rather than Josie's drivel. Corin was a fame ***** but she was bloody entertaining. Unlike Sophie from BB10 who is also a model like type like Corin but who did bugger all....
Like I said before we need strong, opinionated, carefree housemates!! Fame *****s like Bex from BB9 who was wild and outrageous, an articulate Derek type like from BB6. Manipulative types like Makosi BB6. I want to see a comic book geek, a farmer, an icecream van driver. Someone who can talk like 4 different languages. Housemates from all different races and cultures. No boring farts! They went back to basics in BB11 and the majority were boring.
I suppose age doesn't really matter. I just hope there is a good, strong cast! :(
Maybe put a few people who have just finished Uni.. and they want to spend their summer in the BB house? Maybe some people who have travelled who have life stories to tell?
Maybe the odd person who has only lived in obscurity all their life and is now thrusted in the limelight for their time to "shine".
I just hope there is a bloody VOTE TO SAVE!
I really hope someguy gets on. Hang in there someguy! Don't book a holiday yet!! Do that later on in the year.
I hope Daniel Lewis and Jay Frost don't get on though. Jay Frost reminds me of JJ from BB11 and Daniel reminds me of a mild Nathan from BB11.
