Hopefully the final will surpass 2.5 million.

I know that's not an amazing figure.

With luck, it may reach the launch audience of 2.7m ..... :idc:

Will the Finale make 2m ?

:puzzled:

Can't see it going above 2m and if it does it wont be that much above

Sad state of affairs when 2m for a final is going to be seen as a success when just a year ago even the Saturday highlight shows didn't go below 2m

Just shows the level if disrespect Channel 5 have shown the programme and that even core viewers will switch off if the show is terrible

The way people view TV has changed though, more people record programmes to watch the next day and there's also online platforms like 5 on Demand and YouTube where people can watch the show. Overnight ratings are not as big as a deal as they once were.

That's really true. I watch it online when i'm too tired to stay up, like BBBOTS i have to watch on Online when it's been on 5*.

Anyway, i think the final will make 2 million.

In the space of a year? Its been going on a lot longer than that. Last year got about 4m, the year before got about 3m, year before that was about 5m! Its one heck of a fall

The ratings are not great by all means but for Channel 5 they're good. Add into account the people who record the programme and those who watch online and there's probably another 200k+ viewers. I think in general though the public have moved on from Big Brother to trashy scripted reality shows.

2.0m is still good. Please people remember that the Official's are higher than the Overnights.

If it peaked at 2.3m i think the Officials will be around that.

2m... about the same as the Saturday highlights were getting during CBB. I'm sure the champagne corks are popping this morning at C5 towers. What a huge success. In total this year has cost them £100m and for a grand total of 2.1m (lets be generous and round it up) watching the final.

Omah

2.1m is not great for a final but I'm glad it managed to get over 2m. I think it deserved much more.

Wow 2.1m?

Big Brother:
Final - 2.1M

I predicted exactly that way back in August :joker:

Not bad really - I know some people are disappointed but I'm quite pleased, I'm pretty sure those are good ratings for C5 anyway.

They done a great job apart from the live feed decision, the only thing it is a sign of is that hardly anyone is interested in the show anymore

In the Drunk Tank
12-11-2011, 06:50 PM
Yeah no matter how good a series it is I can't see it ever really getting consistently in the 2/3/4 millions again, hopefully it can keep a steady 1.4m or so next year as well

Doogle
12-11-2011, 06:55 PM
If this was 2004ish and was on C5 I'm sure the ratings would still be better than this, even if the series was worse than BB12.

I think people just don't care for it anymore.

It's not. It's a sign that they shouldn't do two series together and that they shouldn't do a series in September.

It's not. It's a sign that they shouldn't do two series together and it's a sign that people won't stay up late in the autumn.

Even with CBB and BB back to back it was only about as long as a normal series though, and I'm not sure the time of year really had that much to do with it tbh, if anything I'd have thought more people are watching TV in autumn

DigitalSid

Yeah but when CBB finished people probably didn't want to watch another series straight away with new housemates.

They are but there's more stuff on.

More competition in Autumn/Winter, hence why Big Brother was almost always on at 10.

As for the back to back series thing, I think a lot of casual viewers didn't want to commit themselves to 9 weeks of a new Big Brother having just gotten their fix with CBB. I definitely think that impacted ratings. Especially as CBB was fairly poor.

True, although CBB's ratings were actually a relative success for C5, I'd hoped they might be able to build on that with this years BB but apparently not

Week 4: 1.5
Week 5: 1.5
Week 6: 1.4

For Big Brother as a whole, they're horrible and appalling.

Week 7: 1.2

Really? I swear the overnights were like 1.4m most nights even during the final weeks.

Its it's twelfth year and 1st on the lowest viewed main channel, did you expect it to break the 5 million barrier week in and out? Don't be stupid. For Big Brother it didn't do great, for channel 5, both CBB and BB done great.

No they are not. Other shows on Channel 5 get more viewers.

TOWIE and Misfits get more viewers than Big Brother.

Who would have thought that a show on e4 and ITV2 would beat BB.

Channel 5 are failing hard without BB though.

Last nights figures (from digital spy)

Without Big Brother, Channel 5 tumbled to a dismal 2.1%, with Vacancy (526k/2.2%) and Tamara Ecclestone: Billion Dollar Girl (374k/2.5%) both performing poorly.

Hopefully this will secure Big Brother for future series seeing as other shows on the channel have actually shed viewers aswell since BB ended.
