I literally was too busy watching Sh*t On The Side, and actually closed the hair straightners directly on my index finger, OMG.

And I put it under cold water and it made it worse!

Oh poor you Patrick, you poor lickle soldier.

Look on the bright side though, it could have been a little bit worse, you could have been trying to straighten your pubes.

A cook once told me best way to treat a burn is to burn it again in exactly the same way. Stops the pain straight away.

Believe it or not its because they are so superficial.

Deeper more serious burns destroy the nerves in the area so dont hurt as much.

And I can prove it, I once left my leg in a fire once, didnt feel a thing after the first ten minutes of intense hellish pain. When the leg was all charred and cripsy it didnt hurt at all.

I put my hand on my aunties electric cooker when I was about 7. its weird to explain but i was basically swinging with one hand on a worktop and one hand on the cooker and me in the doorway. i didnt realise the cooker had just been switched off and it didn't hurt at all at first, it just felt a bit warm. it was only about an hour later when i was suddenly in agony with it and a massive blister came from nowhere. it was very strange. i've still got a loose circle of skin on my palm and decreased sensitivity where I did it and this was in 1997

Favourite trick of mine was to offer a ten pound note to anyone who could hold it tight wrapped around their forearm and burn through it with a cigarette end, god there really are some numpties in the world, the amount of free beer I got with that one.

And the amount of people walking round with little round burns on their forearms ;)

Is this why big cuts dont hurt, while papercuts nearly kill you? :joker:

I always thought that was something to do with adrenaline

I have a huge scar on my hand, done with a piece of glass when very drunk...trying to prove to my mate that this piece of glass wasnt sharp ( ) I did not feel a thing, even though I could actually see my tendons and everything. It wasnt even because I was drunk either, because even the next day when I went to get it stitched...because it hadnt stopped bleeding all night...it still didnt hurt :/

Another bad one is a trapped nerve in the neck. OMG I'd murder when that happens!
