If it's true, let's hope they re-consider live feed or certainly more footage, 3 hours a day BB is on TV, the official highlights and the repeat at around 12 noon each day then the repeat of the repeat on 5* in the afternoon.
Wasted time as to more footage that could be shown.More footage is needed, we knew most of the celebrities but people haven't a clue as to what most of these housemates are about and with the limited footage given, 50 minutes a day for all housemates, they are never likely to either.

Um thats not how Rumor is spelt....
The boxing delay is what did it. If they don't make the time slot earlier and also bring back the live stream it will be dead in a few weeks. Could they actually pull the plug on the show halfway? I'm sure they have in the contracts the ability to do that.

I wouldn't judge the ratings unless we can see how well C5's other programs did, last Saturday BB was the only program that broke a million viewers. It might have just been a poor day for C5 rather then BB failing.

No, the whole point of the live feed is to catch casual viewers who might tune to it at any point in the night, see something they like about a particular conversion or housemate and then get hooked. That's how I got hooked originally back in the day.
With the highlights show you can't 'follow' someone who interests you the most whereas the live streams gives you more of what you want which is perfect for the easily distracted casual viewers.
I don't think they'll ever get to the highs of previous seasons. I think they've done as well as they can this year to rope in new/old viewers of the show but if it's not going to happen then it's not going to happen. When BB dies on CH5 it will die for good and that won't be too far away!
soundslike
18-09-2011, 11:52 AM
What gets me is when BB started they had a good set up for it internet and a channel you could watch when you wanted to. Also it came on at various times in the day and then in the evening and later in the night through to the morning.
It was there when you wanted to watch it now it is virtually non existent. They fixed something that wasn't broken. But yet they still want and expect you to vote for this shambles and pay them to vote. Yes they haven't got rid of that though have they?
no wonder people are not bothering to watch it as an hour is just not enough to get to know whats going on.

Given its a show currently being shown and the fact it follows storylines etc. Channel 5 executive programmers probably meet with Big Brother production executives at least a couple of times a week already.

Agree - they need more than (in the main), people who know have little to discuss other than N-Dubz, what's the best fake tan to use, what gangs they (allegedly) were in, and of course: how many women they have slept with.
More crucially - Live Feed. As you say: no point in doing one without the other: would be a waste of time otherwise.
it's a shame because it does have the potential to be a good one this year.

I'm sure C5 and Endemol discuss BB all the time. "Calling a meeting" is over-dramatic hype.
However, the drop from 2.8 million average for CBB8 to 1.7 million for BB12 must be of big concern... it's a 40% reduction from the celeb series and advertisers/sponsors will not be pleased at all!

Let's be honest: in this years show we have the Panto style crew:
Rebeckah: the villan
Louise: the princess looking for love
Jay: the strong man
Aden: village idiot
Arron: good looking prince charming looking for love
Harry: Landowner snobby, upper crust type
Tom: court jester
Mark court jester number 2
Alex: Cinderella (and I bet that's not coincedence)
and so it goes on.
With the vast majority of them having nothing of interest to say, no witty humour, no good convos (which a lot of the BB's have been hilarious with - the late night talks where all sorts comes out).
Live Feed was the whole ethos of the show as far as being made for public viewing.
LF is fundamental, its how the press see things unfold before the HL show and can get it published early and have the true story instead of the stories channel 5 give us

This year has the potential to really put Big Brother on the map. The main problem is there is no live feed. I had to admit I am missing it terribly because this is the first time in years where I've felt we need a live feed for these housemates. Even if it's just like the US one where they do BB After Dark for three hours or do an edited live feed show where they put all the stuff they couldn't fit into the HL show, that would be great.
The second thing is the HL show is literally a semi extended version of the clips they post online. Why watch the show when you can just watch the you tube clips?!
Third off they need to make sure they bring in some new, interesting housemates whenever they decide to do that.
Fourth, they need better tasks and harsher punishments.
And finally, they need the housemates to move away from the sex talk. Nothing's wrong with it once in a while but every single episode? For the majority of the episode? It gets annoying.
I'm sure there's others but I just cannot think right now.

Like I did with the Celebrity series I've stopped watching this one a week in, too. It's just another **** reality show now whereas Big Brother used to be the reality show people who weren't into reality shows watched.
I can't imagine Charlie Brooker working up the courage to launch into a tirade about it if he even knows it's on. Not that I'm using him as some tell all barometer but by becoming a generic clone of a clone show with no personality and no variety in the cast it's lost virtually all it's adult audience who as Pyramid alluded to loved the odd moments of wit and bizarre late night convorsations.
It's all gone and It's not coming back. It really is a show for morons now. It's left behind the people who loved and could defend it best.

After these ratings if they don't even try LF on the next series just to see if it makes a difference then they're complete idiots and it deserves to fail.
Rumor is the american spelling, this is the UK and we use rumour.:wavey:
And yet a lot of online sites are hosted by American places, and the codings such as 'Color' are spelt in the American way, so isn't stressing the difference between the English and American spelling just because this is a UK forum just nitpicking? Does it really matter as long as we can understand the post? anything is better than text speak in posts. And maybe more respect for our cousins across the waters from USA and other Countries and tolerance of their language which they try their very best to translate into English, is needed on sites.

The problem is once you've lost an audience it can be hard to get them back. They shouldn't have kept the audience in the dark about everything as if it was none of their business. They bought Big Brother so they should have listened to what the Big Brother audience wanted.

Trouble is though, even when C4 had BB, none of them right back as far back as BB3 hardly ever listened to what the BB fans wanted so I doubt they are going to start now, they always think they know best and never give any credit to what the fans want in a BB, so won't consider fan suggestions. Maybe C5 will sit up and listen now though and at least change a few things in time for the next BB rather than see the ratings flop further. Let's hope, hey.

I haven't watched and don't intend watching a single second of this one. If there were live feed and more variety of housemates instead of the obvious angle that is being pushed with them then I would have at least given this BB a looksee.
I used to be such an avid BB fan up until probably BB7, then more or less decided to give up on it from there just dipping in and out of watching it from then on, completely not watching BB10 at all, and only watching BB11 until Ben got evicted because I fully expected that to be the last UK BB and wanted to watch the last one, and that one got so boring towards the end.

CBB8 had some new production aspects which did not go down well with fans but nevertheless a 2.8 million average was not bad and - for C5 - terrific. Personally I enjoyed watching CBB8.
BB12 came far too soon afterwards and although fans, on here, generally applauded it, the public at large didn't want to watch a bunch of nobodies after the celebs.......... however Z-list those celebs might have been. It would not surprise me if BB12 averages under 1 million by the end of the series..
Anyway, although I will continue to dip in to BB12, I have pretty much written it off now. And if I, as a BB fan, feel that way, more casual viewers must be turning off in droves.
Oh well, roll on CBB9 - I'm looking forward to it. :) Hopefully lessons will have been learned from both CBB8 and BB12.

the only ones making it interesting in any way and keeping me tuning in are Aaron and Henry - apart from being easy on the eye - most of the what I find entertaining to watch as far as BB is concerned - dry witty sarcasm, hms sussing out the wannabees very quickly, and subtley winding others up now and then. Far as I can see, its most coming from those two.
If they go: or if the producers start homing in on some crap 'storyline' like JJJ last year or as bad, showing hms running about screaming, chucking stuff around, and acting like 5 year olds. I can see more viewing time of that up at the local primary school. Though Mr Nice Community Policeman may have something to say about that if I did.

2) HM's all under 30.
3) Voting on FB using credits( Who in their right mind would give credit card details to a site such as this) not me for sure.
