Ideas you would give to help ratings?

As you may already no BB had the lowest ratings ever last night:bawling:.... BB are (apparently) having talks with endemol....

If Channel 5 were to ask us fans for ideas to boost ratings/ or ask us what we would want to see, what would your ideas be??:wavey:


A few of mine would be........

* BB to be more evil :devil: maybe do the spider task from another BB where BB tell housemates there are 100 spiders in the house they need to find and bring to diaryroom in jars but EVIL bb only put 99 spiders in the house! :joker:

* Play with their minds.. change the clocks, move stuff during the night, call different names i.e James.. they will get paranoid....

* Let them listen to diaryroom chats when they are being bitchy...

* Scare the housemates every now and again i.e when they are all sleeping send someone in and make them scream or ask a question.

*Suggest they play spin the bottle etc

The BB format is old and a slight makeover won't do it. It will never reach the 4-6 million level it used to.

Not even Live Feed would do it. In a way, Jeff Ford is right (oooh what a terrible thing for me to say! :D) People are not glued to the telly 24/7 as they were 10 years ago.. They are so, so busy.......... er, updating their walls on Facebook, Twittering etc. ;)

Some sort of prizes for the public might be something that could work.

Have a wider range of ages instead of the Hollyoaks cast they've got in there right now.

Isn't much they can do apart from try out a 9pm time slot and obviously bring back LF.

There needs to be another fight night and they need to advertise it well.. front page of the papers, a couple of adverts on TV. People will tune in to see a fight.

Live Feed would probably boost viewers by a few thousand but not enough

Sadly, I think BB is a sunken ship. Even doing promo wouldn't result in many more viewers. The format is just old now and I think people are bored of it.

Having 5HD on Freeview HD would help massively because it can't compete with other channels HD offerings in the same timeslot. Live Feed is another obvious thing they could do.

A regular slot in the schedule.

BB is a show that has a big 'soap opera' element to it and that relies on the same viewers falling into the habit of watching it, and that means a regular slot.

As a casual drop in show BB will always fail, because you do not care about it until you care about the people. C5 need tostop trying to pitch it in that way.

Endemol imo this year have done a great job, but C5 with this 10.15 crap is killing it.

The 10:15 thing was beyond stupid, casual viewers would have tuned in at 10 seen it wasn't on and by 15 mins later would be watching something else and will NEVER be coming back.

Desmond bought a Dream but his channel has made it into a Nightmare. He should lay down the law and fix a permanent timeslot.

24/7 live stream online (like every other country) & some overnight hours on TV.
More basic editing; no music/SFX/name tags/housemates in titles.
Varied housemates; Age, nationality, beliefs & sexual preference.
Better tasks; Some 72hr (shifts) endurance tasks, less diary room tasks.
Faceless, humourless Big Brother, tune down new Marcus.
Turn it back into Big Brother not TOWIE/GS.
Don't focus on the "game" & bitching, let things happen naturally.
Mess with their heads; unwinnable tasks, change the shopping, change the time, wake them at weird times, turn things on & off, stop the moving cameras for a couple of days & just use the static ones etc.
Make them really work for what they get & want to succeed.
No gimmicks like Pammy, the spaceship entrance & Jedward last year.
Try to get a different crowd that don't boo everyone that isn't a model, talk to the house away from the crowd, don't tell or let the housemates hear how they are perceived outside.

2.Spice it up a bit....rich man/poor man...split them up and see their true colours.
3.Test them for loyalty etc.

2. have some tasks where you can win prizes,like eating cat food for £1,000.

3. When they lose a task Endemol/C5 should give them stuff like Spider Crisps,and Kangaroo Coke.:devil:

4. When the housemates turn the lights off to go to bed,have things like Clowns,someone dressed as Freddy Kruger,and Zombies come out.

5. Have some diversity in the housemates,like we need housemates like Angel and Dave.

6. Stop changing the time slots all the time.

7. Bring back Live Feed.

8. Take the music out of the highlights.

9. Scrap BBBOTS and bring in Big Sister which will be more like BBLB.

Most things suggested so far are ways to spice up the show for existing viewers - not ways to bring in new ones. The only event that could take place in the house and get the public's attention again is another fight night or race row (or something similar) which obviously have negative effects too (*yawn* Ofcom *yawn*). This year’s approach was obviously make it appeal to a younger audience (ala Jersey/Gordie Shore) which unfortunately hasn’t worked.

Sadly, more marketing at this stage won't work either because the simple fact is; no one watches Channel 5!

Big Brother is a show that most people simply do not find interesting anyone. BB4 is unanimously considered the worst series of the lot and even that regularly got 4 or 5 million daily viewers.

As for the live feed, it would be great for the die hard fans but it's hardly likely to do miracles for the main show's viewing figures.
