What you have said is absolutely true: he did and he made that obvious by the times he looked right at her.

Jay's seen how Rebeckah attacks and he didn't want to confront her. He knew that she wouldn't give in but would stick on her side of the story so he didn't bother with it. However, it might not have been the best thing to do. Well, he still got nominated by Rebeckah but at least she didn't bite his head off.
