Which one of these mighty institutions would you like to ban?:wavey:

Neither really, but this is a headline he could well have done without. Live feed needed for BB and a new leader for Labour would be the changes I would make.
Both could then avoid any call for a ban whatsoever.

Ed will get the M in his surname changed to an S if he keeps making speeches and gaffes like this.

The Labour Party has caused more harm to this country than Big Brother.

Having left this country a dire legacy of social and economic disaster after 13 years of incompetence and profligacy, the issue of paramount importance to the Labour Party now is Big Brother? They need to get their priorities right.

Ban Big Brother please. The labour party will hold a conference called Big Brother's Big Ban.

With this kind of attitude and plan, I don't know how Labour can't win the next election.

Which one of these mighty institutions would you like to ban?:wavey:

People can do one of 2 things.

A) Live & let live.

B) Man dominate man.

*ANY* Government, is an attempt at B.

I *SPIT* in B's eyes.

How dare you try to dominate another human being!
How dare you create a situation, where 1 person owns 30 houses, and 30 people are struggling to pay one bastard's rent.

I spit on *ALL* government.

Threatening to ban Big Brother (which they couldn't do if they tried anyway) would most likely be supported by the vast number of people. We people who like Big Brother are a very small minority these days.

Big Brother fans are not the only ones who would be against it. Most of people are against censorship and that's exactly what it is.

Most people are only against censorship of the things they like. Very few are against all censorship. We all have things that we feel aren't appropriate viewing.

If Labour have their way their will be no reality tv, and everyone must be in bed by 7pm lol.

Total joke, i appreciate BB isn't pulling in the viewers and yes okay maybe its a show that's not to every one's liking, but Labour have no right to depirve us fans and general tv viewers of a bit of entertainment.

What confuses me is they go on about, BB but what about aiming to fix the important problems in the country such as the debt and the loss of jobs?

Why even mention Big Brother what a total tool Ed Milliband is !

Now you got me riled.

All these * authoritarians* are doing is tightening their own noose.

How long do you think a person, will pay £x-amount of his wage, every week to pay off another guy's mortgages, (who owns 100+ properties)?

Revolution is coming my friend.

It's started in the "Arab spring", and it's spreading to the "western fall".

We saw this in the London riots.

*NO* People, are going to watch billionaire bankers gamble away their inheritance, (PISS IT ALL AWAY BECAUSE THEIR **stoopid**) and *NOT* revolt.

You think BB is kicking off. Wait till it's a high street near you.

I honestly can't see it happening.

I can't believe some of you actually believe this.

It is probably just a completely contrived story to increase controversy and therefore get people more interested in the subject and more viewers will watch.

Doubt it will work though. It is so obvious what they are doing, the labour party don't give a crap about BB.

Riots have happened always under Tory governments. Revolution never follows and never will because people in this country know that things could be worse. Better the devil you know could be Britain's mantra.

and how is Big Brother this?

I don't think it is inappropriate, I'm a fan of the show. However lots of people believe it isn't appropriate for TV and have since it started. My point was that we each have our personal beliefs on what is acceptable and what isn't.

Lostie!

People are against all political parties. As I said on another thread, voter apathy is a major problem.

Of course it won't happen. It's a story in a tory paper by the owner of channel 5 to increase interest in the show and antagonism against labour. It won't achieve much of either.

I don't agree.

We are in new territory. The Arab world has opened up to democracy.

Is it democratic to have 5% of the U.K own 90% of it's wealth?

People are living in apartments they can't afford.

Why?

Because Thatcher sold off *everything* in the 80's.

Now you have a situation, where;

A) One guy owns 100 houses.
B) 100 guys can't afford the extortionate rent **ONE** prick is charging.

Now do the math.

*WHEN* the 100 guys "kick off".

ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE.

I'd like to believe that. But at heart Britain is conservative in its beliefs. As a society we cling to tradition, old out of date institutions and ideas. We don't like to challenge authority too much. It takes an attack on something beloved by everyone (i.e. the NHS) to get people up in arms. A show like Big Brother is either disliked or irrelevant to the vast majority in this country. They simply wouldn't care enough to complain.

And I don't believe there is any desire to ban Big Brother anyway. But I appreciate the good debate.

Go to school, get an education, get a decent job and get a mortgate. Or you can moan about the lack of social housing and threaten to kick off off about it because cheap housing is somehow your right.

Errrrrr, Narr.

I don't think I will.

However, I believe you mean, "put blinkers on, have a nice life & ignore the fact we are abused"?

But you are more than happy to, (and since you insulted me first, I am within my rights to suggest it is *you* who needs education).:xyxwave:

I already own a house I worked hard for. I don't own a pair of blinkers and I don't feel the world owes me a subsidised home. What's more I don't feel I want to subsidise other people's social housing through my taxes unless they are in need.

I understand the point Ed Milliband is making but I think it's the job of parents to teach their children, through their own example, that not everything is going to be handed to them on a plate.

However, I also think the Opposition should be spending their time debating with the Government on the problems faced by the country rather than trying to ban television entertainment that is enjoyed by people of all ages.

Now look (a few weeks later) to;

London, Wall street, Manchester, Birmingham.

Interesting.

I owned 3 houses, and got divorced. And was wiped out.

I have 4 kids, (who I aren't allowed to see, but expected to maintain)

I guarantee you, you did *NOT* work as hard as me.

Either way. It is nice that you (THINK YOU) own your own property.

But sadly, You are a minority.

There are THOUSANDS living in private rent.

Some quite wealthy, (Young) but the banks have gambled all their assets away so no mortgages are being given.

So yes (feel a snob if you wish) Trust me, it is only an illusion.

And *YES*.

Housing is *EVERYONES* god given *RIGHT*.

What on this planet makes idiots (like some I could mention) think they are doing favours, by *ROBBING* the land, and then selling it back exuberantly?

Of *COURSE* people are going to "kick off".

That's what 2011 has been about.

Have you learned *nothing*?

(But I guess, when it's some Arab dictator who own's all the property & abusing the tenants of his land, [then that's a *different*] crime?)
