View Full Version : Why has Davina abandoned Big Brother?

Ever since Big Brother came back, Davina has made hardly any mention of it if any. For someone who was such a massive part of the show, and was the mum of the show basically, it's sad that she has abandoned the show and it's fans. It's sad that the show is moving on without her basically...
How can you go from being a self-confessed massive fan of the show, to completely not watching it anymore just because your not the host?
I was really hoping we would hear from her, her thoughts about the new series, maybe a panel guest on Big On The Side. But nope, nothing.
Doesn't it made you a bit sad? It's like she wants nothing to do with BB anymore, even after all these years...

Because she is not on the payroll anymore. Simple as that.
Do I miss her? Not one tiny bit.

I don't think she was as big as a fan of the show as she made out really, I sometimes got that impression from her and it's weird how she's just not watching it now. She tweeted that she would watch some of the normal series when it started but that was weeks ago now and ever since she hasn't made a single tweet about BB. I do find it a bit sad seeing as I loved her as the host and would like to hear her views on the housemates and the presentation this year. Hopefully she will watch some of it later in the series and we can hear what she thinks but it does make you wonder whether when she stopped presenting the show, she wanted to cut all ties with it which explains her not watching.

I would have thought its because she doesnt want to undermine Brian in any way which is pretty nice and thoughtful of her if she was hanging around it would just be awkward i can see why she has distanced her self its for the best.

A highly plausible reason also.

A highly plausible reason also.I could be wrong she might be sat at home crying and stabbing her brian doll watching re-runs of BB2 but if it was me i would just feel a bit out of place and in the way.

I'd hate it if she was sticking her oar in - I can't stand the woman - what with her gurning and blatant bias towards certain HMs. Good riddance.

I agree with rest that she's keeping her distance.

Probably because she didn't even watch it in the last few years and got a few people to tell her who to like and hate?
Maybe I'm being cynical, but she certainly didn't come across as a fan in her last years, more like an employee.

I remember during BB11, so many times she left the country during the week and then would come back late thursday and tweet that she's catching up on the weeks shows, essentially just a few hours before the eviction. We missed the Caiomhe interview because her flight back to the UK was delayed or something.
I think in the later years she didn't really care about the show anymore, which is understandable I guess because BB11 in particular wasn't exactly groundbreaking tv but it would have been nice if she made a bit of an effort to stay at home and watch it on tv like the rest of us. :p
Oh well, I don't blame her for not watching BB12. After having watched the show every single summer, having to present evictions every week during every summer and have so much involvement with promotion and so on I guess she's sick of it now.

Davina was so overrated. It's the people in the show that make or break the series, not the host. I couldn't care less about what she thinks of the new series etc.

I'm not saying poor davina, i'm just saying that anyone would be sick of something after doing it constantly for 10 years straight, just like most people hate their jobs after doing it for 10 years straight. The only difference is that Davina had the chance to put an end to it and still have work whereas 'normal' people can't just quit their jobs, can they? Of course she earned millions and of course she's happy about that, anyone would be, but that doesn't mean she can't hate the way she earned it.

Ch4 have a say in it.
they do not want her near Endemol/Ch5
She is Endemol /Ch4
Its that Simple
Let's not forget that she's still working for Channel 4 on The Million Pound Drop. Their bosses could well have asked her not to talk publicly about the new series of Big Brother - they won't want her promoting what is now a rival show.

Davina only cared about BB as long as was getting paid to care.
Like others say though, who cares? I love the presenting team they have in place this season.
Emma et al have actually managed to make the late show entertaining and worthwhile... far better then Davina's 'embarrasing aunty' act.

I expect Channel 4 will have a fair bit to do with it.

This I agree with absolutely. I stopped watching the spin off shows because of Davina and her pathetic behaviour - it was cringeworthy and I gave up watching for no other reason that I couldn't stand watching her.

I think Emma can be pretty awkward. Her interview with Maisy last night could've gone a lot better.
And I hate how any of the Big Brother staff pounce on housemates when they mention anything about editing. Just **** off.

yeah, it's not all plain sailing, but you have to judge on the whole rather then the spots, especially on live TV.
but then I am a little bit in love with Emma (and Alice if I am honest) so my forgiveness is deep :joker:
