I'd say that's pretty open minded of him.

To quote Louise, I think that's one of the most romantic things a guy could do...... I know he did it to keep her family name running through generations - but still, it proves how utterly selfless the guy is.

He gets all the more gold stars from me.

Not really, just found it oddly hilarious (and hardly fitting behaviour of a "Lord"). I can just imagine what people on this board would say if it was Jay or Anton :joker:

I agree..... but it's nice to see that most people, whether they like Aaron or not, appear to think it was an incredibly nice thing for him to do.

Says a lot for the man - for his respect for his wife, and her family.

We know nothing about the circumstances of their breakup. She (rightly) refused to comment on her marriage in an interview recently.

Its not obvious at all. Infact its about as far from obvious as it could possibly be

Being a little feminine etc, does not make someone gay. The only defining characteristics of a gay person is which sex they are attracted to.

They just made it a double barrelled surname. Like Palmer-Tompkinson or Parker-Bowles

You can do what you like. Namewise. For instance a child doesn't HAVE to have any family surname at all. You can name them Bart Simpson if you like

I have my OH's surname but am not married to him

"Some double-barrelled names are formed in order to prevent a family name otherwise dying out, due to the lack of males in a generation or when notable property is inherited through the female line with a stipulation that the individual inheriting use the family name."
He did say he did it for his son with respect to his wife's family. They probably don't have a male in the family to carry on the family name. So he took hers with his and it is now a double-barrellled name.

I don't think he is gay because he is feminine :joker: My mate is gay and i met his bf and he was a butch mechanic and was more manly then me and i am straight.
I just think he is a secret gay :) maybe he is still living in denial.By the time he is 40 he will be proud

I just don't think Aaron wants his family to know or his son to see it.

He chose to add his wifes surname to his own so that his son could help carry on his wife's surname too as well as his because his wife's family is small.
I know others who have done that too.Its not completely unusual.

It is a perfectly common thing to do. My sister did that when she married.
In the past if a person brought the money into the family their name was included as in Bowes-Lyon. The Bowes were wealthy coal owners and the Lyon family were the poor Duke's of Strathmore

I'm not the greatest of Aaron fans, but I don't see how him taking his wife's name makes him 'whipped.' Why should women have to take their husband's name?

He did dump his wife after she was left disabled after giving him a child, so I doubt he's that whipped..

If that's true, his cool points stack way up through the roof. At least he is aware he's living in the 21st century where men and women are EQUAL, not a hundred years ago. Whilst egalitarian attitudes in society have evolved, it seems some people's are still stuck in the past. No inflated male ego from Aaron, or misguided beliefs that men are superior to women. I admire him even more now:wavey:

i think they do. when i was in america recently (where my brother in law lives) i noticed a letter addressed to him (Mr) with her surname...and all hers were in her maiden name. so maybe that is what they do....who cares....its a name..and maried is married....its still a piece of legal paper....
