Well it wasn't so much a pop at Alex as at her mum because if Alex's ineptness and ignorance is genuine then the fault for that is entirely her mums! I taught my kid to read before he started infant school and regularly kept him up with or ahead of his schoolwork by teaching him stuff at home as well as more basic things like how to change a plug or replace a broken window when he got older... Alex has clearly been left to be a "wild child" and go her own way with little or no parental intervention or guidance
