When Jem was in the house she was assertive about Aaron being a bad guy.

But she's backtracked. She's gone from saying

Aaron is not treating my sister well


to saying things like

I am not sure Aaron's treating my sister well

Aaron may be treating my sister badly

So it's conjecture based on the fact Aaron is similar to Fay's not very nice ex.
