View Full Version : Do the viewers want romance/couples?

This is something that I've never understood about Big Brother the last few years, it seems like the producers of the show think that people want to see romance in the house.

Now I'm not against it in theory, but I don't want it to become the center piece of the show. In BB5 for example, the Michelle and Stuart relationship was an important part of the show, but it wasn't everything. But it seems in recent years, the last two especially, the show has focused on the romance aspect of the show. Is this what the viewers want, or is it just what the producers want?

Right now BB12 is really going down in my eyes since it has turned into the couples show. Though it doesn't help that I don't like any of the couples.

The seem to think that the public want to see people having sex live on TV...if we wanted that we would tune into porn...end of the day any fumbling that goes on is all under the duvet so why they think that is a ratings winner is anyones guess....a ratings winner to me is lots of arguments and people like Heaven clashing with people like Rebeckah...and the only one who has entertained me throughout is Aaron....sorry but hes given us a bit of everything...

Not really, but the producers seem to get off on "under the duvet" crap.

No I hate romance/couples. The producers always seem to shove it down our throats though every year.

Nope, couldnt give a damn about couplings tbh. I'm interested in the HMs as individuals.

They seem to think it's what people want

If there was a genuine relationship in there I wouldn't mind so much. It's just the fact that they know that when they come out, there's money to be made out of a BB relationship. It's become too obvious and I don't blame them in a way for wanting to make as much out of it if they can, but for me it's ruined BB totally.

Judging by the Final I don't blame them for thinking that is indeed the case lol.

They seem to be trying to revive interest in their "true love" affair via Twitter. A kind of a long distance Brief Encounter!!!

of course the other problem is the GBH for some reason they do like to chuck out all the clashing personalites early doors....so a clue for next year...leave the warring ones in....

True, couples always seem to do well in Big Brother. I can see why housemates go in wanting to get into a showmance.

Definitely not. I'm not interested to see either a blanket or the constant "do you really like me" questioning. The only relationship that I enjoyed was Helen and Paul's but still I'd rather watch just housemates enjoying their friendships.

No, it's not what I want to watch at all. I find myself switching the channel when Jay & Louise are in bed. As I can't stand them both it makes it even worse!

for some strange reason bb always seem to think us the viewers want to see them having sex. i dont for one. i dont mind the odd couple but hate it when thats all the show centres on ie Aaron and faye or jay and louise. @ least tom and alex r trying to deny theres anything going on between them 2 which kinda makes it a bit more interesting.

i think a fudemental rule shouls be no relationships in the house and punishments if anyone gets to close ( after all they are on cam 24-7 and it wont be hard to spot) this will now spice it up as when you are not allowed to do things you often want to do them and it creates a tention.

i also feel that if no money was offered for people to sell there love story when they come out then people will no there is no point in having a relationship unless ofcourse its genuine.

they need to do something as these brain dead people like Jay aaron fay etc etc are so boreing that i can not ever see BB returning to our screens.

i wrote a poem called "should BB be renamed Blind date" i think its on page 2, and it says the same, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

The worst thing about couples are 90% of the time it's not even real.Just done for the cameras.I am sick of couples and think it has ruined bb for years now.
Josie was a worthy winner without the whole fake romance

I'm not against people getting together, being locked up in there for so long with not much to do then it's bound to happen some times but I agree with OPs point that I don't want it take over the whole show

I'm convinced the BB producers are probably a bunch of "out of touch" 40 somethings, trying to imagine what giggly 14 year old girls would like to see.
