View Full Version : Janet forgetting her words

Dunno if this has been said but apparently she didn't. The poor lass got that feeling where you're going to be sick happen. You know when saliva rushes and rushes into your mouth? Awful feeling :( No wonder she stopped singing. I'd have run off stage!
Yeah I think she did said she felt she was going to be sick and had been feeling that backstage before her performance as well, I guess it's surprising that she managed to carry on considering

I couldn't have. I detest that feeling. I think she said she felt the same in her second performance too. She certainly didn't look great :/

Production team made little note of that too in Sundays VT instead just making the point she forgot her words.

I think she has been covered badly in that, she didn't forget the words as Kerry pointed out but even last night the judges were still going on about it as to forgetting your words at this stage of the competition,
Never mind, from Amelia coming back in, Louis had changed a lot from thinking Janet was the one to beat, and Gary has near had it in for her from week 2 anyway.
Kelly should have made a far stronger defence of her as to not forgetting her words but that she felt she was going to be sick, for some reason she didn't, she sure would have for Mishah though had it been her and not Janet.
She should have been sick! Would have been fun to watch

Yeah was rather strange how when she said she thought she was going to be sick, 1 judge said because you were nervous (e.g not prepared) they even hinted at that in the decision. Think it was Tulisa who said in keeping the act who wants it more, as of to say Janet just forgets her words because she doesn't prepare.

Quite funny how they completely stagnated her performance of Under The Bridge as nothing good at all, whether or not you like her, if you are going to rave about 'Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' or 'Fix You' like they did earlier in the competition then this performance was up there with both of them, similar style of vocals too, so as I said you couldn't rave about 1 performance and not like the other. Its basically a worst kind of contradiction.
It was more a comeback performance from her after the first showing, but they put the blanket over that rather quickly passing it off as a poor performance from her.
BTW I thought it may have been an excuse at first, but watching over she even pulled the mic away from her first just before she was to come for the next verse so does look like she nearly threw up. Poor girl, least the X-Factor sham is over for her now.

I agree with all this and I think it was just as well she was knocked out yesterday, as much as I liked her, don't think it was good for.

She hasn't argued the point on This Morning show,in fact she agreed she forgot the words.
That's a long way from what was said over the weekend. It will be interesting to see what is said much later when the show is well finished for this year, they do get tied up with all sorts of things they can't say or not do until the tour is over so maybe we will never get an answer to this really now.
I still go with the 'she felt she was likely going to be sick' as that is what she said herself 'live' before anyone got to her.I am near sure if she felt she was really going to be sick anyway then the words to the song would have gone out of her mind totally.
I think she is a great talent and a great find too however it's more evidence of how the X Factor shows and themed weeks actually bring out the worst of the acts rather than concentrate on their best. Making singers sing songs they wouldn't touch in a million years normally is not bringing out their best it's stifling their best.

Yeah, exactly Joey. Most singers aren't versatile, they sing in a particular style that suits them. They want people to be versatile yet at the same time slate them for not "knowing who they are and what direction they want to take"

I agree, themed weeks really are bad. Of course in a way the show will argue they are looking for singers who are diverse and who have the 'X-Factor'... however singers like Janet who are unique, but can only do a similar style, are always going to fail with some of these themes.

I know, you could tell they were jumping up and down inside when asking the questions, they tried to sound sympathetic but I'm pretty sure they rushed through it because Janet's interview felt shorter than Craig's was last week

I honestly have to say that I don't believe she felt sick - I really don't. She forgot her words a few weeks back. To do it again at such a crucial point in the competition would have been unforgiveable - she's not a daft lassie, she'll have known that I'm sure. I say that, not because I haven't taken to her or her voice, but because of what I watched when it happened.
She did it twice during the song, at the very start, and then the very obvious part - and when it was clear she simply couldn't remember what was next: she looked at the judges panel and made the action with her mouth (which to me, came across as ''oh hell I cant remember the lines - I'm lost here ) and she only started signing again once there was a vocal singing cue, and then she picked up again.
If she HAD been feeling so very sick and trying to stop being ill - having gone through 'that' above scenario - I'd have thought that would have been enough for the stomach to empty itself. As for nerves: how much were her hands trembling or did her nerves only reach her stomach.
Sorry folks, but I'm not buying it. She forget the words, plain and simple.

Absolutely fair enough comment, I'm sure many will agree with you that they feel she's being honest about being ready to be sick/going to be sick.
I genuinely don't.
I honestly do think she gives out this very quiet, almost shy to a point, innocent young thing image when she's far from it. Even her words after it: "I can't wait to leave this and get my own work out there" - there is just something I find about her that's arrogant - but she tries to hide it.

I think she really is shy and innocent on a stage. Obviously it's also good that she didn't want to lose her image as an artist and turn into an XF diva. For that she has to be applauded.
In week 2 her Grandad died, most other acts would use that as a platform for sympathy votes, but she made little out of it.

Most of them have all had a hard time, 3 for example being Misha, Kitty with the hellish press they've both had, then Amelia who had to come back 5 weeks later and was playing catchup etc.
Maybe I'm too hard - but if she (Janet) is still regarded as a child, then she shouldn't be playing with adults then - if she hasn't got what it takes all round - nerves or not, it proves she's not ready - right now anyway.
This week she forgot due to nerves/going to be sick....what was her excuse the other week? She just forgot her words? It's a fairly crucial part of a singing competition.
I'm sure she'll find some small success in a particular niche of the market: but I don't see her being a huge success.

Also it's worth noting when Janet first forgot her words, the producers changed the time of the song by 20 seconds, 20 minutes before the show.

Actually Janet doesn't act like a child. I think she is shy, polite, not arrogant at all, but knows what she wants.
In fact unlike the other contestants who are now left, Janet is one that knows what she wants, will make sure she does it on her terms and is very self-aware.

When it comes to a certain Hmate..... I would be happy to see him fail, I ain't gonna lie - but that's for a whole set of different reasons!
But Janet is a whole different kettle of fish: she has a voice that will no doubt take her places, as well as being a musician and a fairly accomplished one from what the judges would say about her - I could never take that away from her. Why wouldn't anyone wish her well (whether liking her or not) I don't understand either.

Totally understandable: put her into comparison with Kitty for example - Kitty's got more experience, more used to dealing with rejections etc - I did 'get' what you meant - from a 'protective' point of view because she'll be less experienced in dealing with all this.
I'll be the first to say that I am pretty hard - and perhaps I am being too hard, given her young age, (but I STILL feel she simply forgot the words).

not everyone is confident and capable of dealing with the massive attention that the x-factor gives, sometimes people need a lot of encouragement to flourish. Janet's at her best when she feels comfortable doing what she does and knows. Mmmbop was not in Janet's comfort zone so she messed it up. Kelly should have been telling her this and encouraging Janet to do more of her own type of music and building from that, but instead she just left her to her own devices and spent her time buddying up with Misha.
The way Kelly didn't support Janet was pathetic last night. Janet would have gone either way.. she couldn't care less about Janet and sacrificed her just to keep in cahoots with Misha imo

I'm pretty sure that when Janet applied for the Xfactor, that it wouldn't have been an unknown show for her - which has the contestants performing all manner of songs/gendre- and that is well known.
If Janet wasn't up to it - she shouldn't have entered. Twice now (three if you could both foul ups from this weekend) - she has forgotten her words. She didn't make the grade, that's the bottom line.
On the contrary to what you feel about Kelly's decision (or lack of) last night: I have seen clip after clip of Kelly boosting Janet, encouraging her and supporting her - so where you get this idea of Kelly being in 'cahoots' with Misha, is beyond me.
Someone had to go last night, and it was Janet. That's showbiz.

No need for the 'duh' comment.
Kelly actually abstained from making a decision between them both.
Therefore there is no bearing on how you are perceiving it.
What Dermott said, crystal clearly - was that if Kelly did not vote: Janet is out right now - because there was a majority vote at that point. Gary then confirmed that he too would have opted for sending Janet - so the end result would have been the same.
Therefore, if Kelly had saved Janet, Janet would still have received a majority vote to send her packing - from Louis, Tulisa and Gary.
I'm not sure why you cannot see that - and cannot accept that regardless of who Kelly decided to send home - it would have made no difference.
The weaker singer left. Regardless, because of a majority vote from the other 3 judges: not because Kelly abstained from voting.

I feel desperately sorry for Janet. One minute she is flavour of the month and the next she is being slagged off quite brutally by Gary. It is no wonder her confidence was shot. I hope she does not get put off the whole thing now. She does have a good voice and might do as well as Leona.

Well, she didn't know which way Gary would have voted until afterwards, at that point if she had saved Janet, there was still a chance of it going to deadlock, by refusing to vote she was, in effect making sure Janet went home.
Also, I disagree the weaker singer left, I by far preferred Janets voice and much preferred her final song to Mishas.

I find it very hard to believe that the judges haven't already made their minds up - long before those in the bottom two have even sung. After all: at least two of the judges last night based their decision not on the sing off song: but overall perfomances throughout and who would be a better recording artist, fill concerts etc.
I'm pretty sure they all knew that when it came down to just Janet and Misha, that Janet would be going.
It's one of the reasons as I've said in other threads, why I think it's a massive con - because the public only get to really decide at the finals - until that point, the judges are still in control of which in the bottom two leave.

Yeah, I agree with that alright. The sing off itself seems pretty pointless to me, I mean they should either base it completely on the sing off or just not waste theirs (or the acts) time and energy on it.

Yep. I'm sure we've all watched sing offs where we've heard the judges saying "Decision has to be based on this performance alone...so on that basis..... " Like all these shows though: highly manipulated - but again: those who take part in it, will almost certainly know this is the way it works.
Better still....leave it as what it's 'supposed to be'.... the public votes actually counting .... in full. Chances of that ever happening from the start of the show - zero, unfortunately.

Yeah, I'd bet my life on the judges actually being told who to vote for anyway to be quite honest. One of these days I'm going to actually stop watching it instead of whinging about how fixed and manipulated it is  I was almost there this year too!

For sure. Mr Cowell is still pulling the strings, they are merely employees!
Ach, we all know the way it works, us all moaning about it, well, we're only saying what everyone else thinks !! :D

The cast it out, we bite, and then they reel us in.
Hook, line and sinker.

I actually stopped watching after they pulled the double elimination to get frankie out...it failed so they kicked him out anyway(I know that wasnt the 'official story though, but its clear as crystal to me :p). Not necessarily because I liked Frankie, but just because of how off the whole situation was...
Its always been fixed to an extent, but this year it has been more blatant than ever.
I watch if its on, but I dont make a point of watching like I used to, and no WAY would I ever vote. There isnt really much point.

The most fixed X Factor was last year imo, even down to who made the final out of Cher and Mary.
Anyway I believe Janet probably was feeling sick as she looked nervous as hell.
And in the end it 'did ' for her, with a little help from the running order (always on as the first girl) and the biased judges who put her on a pedestal and then proceeded to knock her down. Barlow and Tulisa are just as culpable as Kelly in that respect. No question she looked more unhappy as the weeks went by, but she pulled out a blinder in the sing off. THAT TOO, WAS MAINLY IGNORED.....gotta have Misha B IN THE FINAL, YOU SEE.....:nono:
