He'll get a fair fair trial.

I don't see how he can be found guilty though because, like it says in the article, he was basically making his own "search engine" and directing people to different websites. Just like google points you to pirate sites. It's the people who actually upload the content that are breaking the law.

you can;'t compare his site to google. Google doesn't point people to illegal downloading sites on purpose. this guy made a website for the explicit purpose of giving links to illegal downloads. His entire website was meant to give links to illegal downloads.

How can you say that's the same thing???

He was obviously making an entire website to give illegal downloads, that's not like Google at all.

I sympathise with him, sites like this are all over the place it's how I watch most of my films, type into Google "watch [insert any film title] online" and there'll be dozens of results with places that'll list a load of links. Surely it's those who upload the films illegally who they should be targeting, not just those who provide links to those films

I hate extradition especially for petty cases like this. Put him on trial in his own country and don't give into the pressure from the american government. I hope he gets it appealed.

Who/Where from arista? im curious.
Lets cut to the chase. The majority of people that defend copyright law dont even understand it to the point that they regularly break it themselves while making hypocritical statements about other people and their use of the internet.
Some people need to pause for a second and educate themselves to the laws they are defending before they mount that soap box they so love to occupy on certain issues ;)

How silly would it be someone was to notify the powers that be that arista was breaking copyright law about 20 times a day?
If SOPA is passed you may log onto tibb to find this message and all due to ignorance.

http://www.observer.com/files/2012/01/stopSOPA-300x300.jpg

I would like it if tibb shut down for 24 hours on the 18th jan in protest at sopa but i wont hold my breath.
replaced with this message.

I don't get why his in this much trouble? it's not like his committed a serious crime is it?

His site had Ads on it
so he Made Cash of £150,000
while putting up links from other sites to watch Copyright shows and films.

So as he took the Cash
for this & it comes under Criminal Law.

His Dear Mother seems to miss that fact.

He hasn't committed any crime by UK law, but apparently the US can just swoop in and demand his extradition to a country he's never set foot in, and face a possible jail term of 10 years

The servers his website used were on US soil, so technically he did commit the "crime" in the US.

However like i said, i don't think non-violent criminals should be extradited.

According to this (http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-01/16/tvshack-guy-can-be-extradited) "the site didn't host any pirated content, and the servers were not in the US"?

hmmm, maybe i'm wrong then. maybe it's because there were so many US users using his site then? although in that case, they should be going after the Americans that used his site too.

Do you know if they are going after Americans that used the site too?

It all seems like a massive waste of time and money to me, and the only people getting anything out of it are the lawyers.

I'm not sure, the domain was only seized because of copyright infringement apparently but there's dozens of the sites that do the same thing
