EastEnders fans will see a shock return for Simon Wicks in tonight's episode, it has emerged.

Simon, played by Nick Berry, makes a one-off appearance following the funeral of his mum Pat Evans, The Sun has revealed.

The special scene, which was only recorded yesterday, will see Simon pay a secret visit to Pat's grave in the dead of night to lay some flowers.

Simon does not attend the actual service as he has been arguing with his half-brother David (Michael French), who returned to Albert Square on New Year's Day to see Pat before she died.

EastEnders bosses are expected to air Simon's scene at the very end of tonight's episode after the credits have rolled.

I missed most of it...why did David drive off?

After speaking to Bianca and seeing Carole kiss her little ginger grandkid goodbye I think he felt like he would be tearing apart another family and so drove off in a panic. Also because numbnuts wants to kill him

I expect most people would have missed it due to it being after the credits, they really should have included it before them.

Omg, trust me to miss this, I turned over to Corrie straightaway. What happened?

They did say at the beginning of EastEnders to stay watching past the credits.

It was brilliantly done.

rewatched the end on bbc3. Was great, a nice touch. Guessing it was one off appearance though. Shame. Would like him back properly.

Wish they would get rid of Derek Branning, cannot stand him, and his storyline is crap. He is about as scary as a lettuce.

They are over-doing Derek that it just comes across a joke /f

I don't think I've ever hated a character as much as I hate Derek Branning. Even villains like Archie, Lucas, Yusef etc. I could tolerate now and again but Derek is just repulsive, he has such a punchable face.

I was really disappointed in EE tonight, I know I am likely in a minority but it should have been a good send off for the character Pat, her reference parts in tonights episode was in reality over and done with in the first 10 minutes.
Pretty poor for such a strong and leading character in my opinion.Disappointing.

I wasn't that hugely fussed on the episode either, I thought she'd get a better send off too. The funeral felt so short and Lauren ruined it for me by being drunk there, so disrespectful. I was hoping that Dot and some other characters would say some words about Pat, instead we just got a short speech from Janine. Too much of the episode was focused on David/Carol and Derek when it was meant to be about Pat. Was also hoping for Julia's Theme but we didn't get it. I actually thought Frank's funeral was done better.

I was annoyed too, it was written by Simon Ashdown and I was expecting a lot better. I feel like it should have been two episodes. The funeral should've been separate. It just didn't fit, it was also so short too.
